What do you think of this build?

A bit overkill in some areas. You don't need 16gb of ram for gaming. Practically no games use over 4gb of ram at the moment. The power supply is way too much unless you are considering going sli down the line. Are you? If so you will want the extreme 3 mainboard.

Fill this in and we can recommend a build for you.

    1. What is your budget? [€xxx]

    2. What will be the main purpose of the computer? [Gaming/Video editing/3D Modelling/HTPC/Internet] (If gaming include which games)

    3. Do you need a copy of Windows? [Yes/No]

    4. Can you use any parts from an old computer? [Hard drive/DVD Drive/Case/PSU/etc.] (If possible state brand and model of the parts to ensure compatibility)

    5. Do you need a monitor? [Yes/No]

5a. If yes, what size do you need. [19'/20'/22'/24'/etc.]

5b. If no, what resolution is your current monitor and do you plan to upgrade in the near future? [1920x1080/1440x900/etc.] [Yes/No]

    6. Do you need any of these peripherals? [Keyboard/Mouse/Wireless Card/Card Reader/Speakers/etc.]

    7. Are you willing to try overclocking? [Yes/No]

    8. How can you pay? [Bank Transfer/Credit Card/Laser]

    9. When are you purchasing? [In x days]

    10. If you need help building it, where are you based? [South Dublin City/Cork City/Kerry/etc.]

Don't know much about it, probably not.

Are you considering sli (dual gpu) down the line?

That question needs to be added to that sticky.

I haven't really considered it. I do want this PC to be running games on max settings for a couple of years to come so if SLI is what I will need then yes.

This will run pretty everything at max settings at the moment. It should run cool and quiet and has good overclocking head room. You can look into it. It's really easy to do and with that budget it would be a crime not to. You can also add a second 670 down the line if you want/need more power. It's a good board for sli and the power supply is more than up to the task.

    Item|Price
    Intel Core i5-3570K Box, LGA1155|€209.08
    ASRock Z77 Extreme4, Sockel 1155, ATX|€124.94
8GB Corsair Vengeance Low Profile schwarz PC3-12800U CL9-9-9-24|€55.89
    Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO - Intel/AMD|€29.50
    Gigabyte GeForce GTX 670 OC, 2GB GDDR5, 2x DVI, HDMI, DisplayPort|€365.80
    Seagate Barracuda 7200 2000GB, SATA 6Gb/s|€82.94
    3 x Enermax T.B.Silence 14x14cm|€26.97
be quiet! STRAIGHT POWER CM BQT E9-CM-680W 80+Gold|€123.09
Nanoxia Deep Silence Two Anthracite, ohne Netzteil|€79.03
    Samsung SSD 840 250GB SATA 6Gb/s|€149.77
    Shipping|€18.99
    Total|€1266.00

If you wanted to stick with a single gpu system you could save about €150 here and get the same performance.

Hmm I really like the look of that.

    Couple of things.

The PSU is listed as being Delivery Date unknown, does that generally means it's months away or what?
I have not used hardwareversand before, should I get them to assemble the PC or just ship the parts to me? I do know a local place that could do it.

They are usually quick to restock. No more than a couple of days normally. There are alternatives.

Assemble it yourself. It's really easy and fun to do and there is less chance of anything getting damaged in transit.

There's lot's of guides online. Somebody who is paid to it is not going to put the same care and attention into your pc as you are.

It's also good to know how everything goes together so you can troubleshoot problems yourself. It's handy having all the boxes for everything if you go to sell parts on down the line it will help their resale value.

Alright I might give it a try. I am hesitant because the last PC I assembled I ended up blowing up the PSU and frying the motherboard because I stuck the pin for the USB ports in the wrong hole! An expensive mistake that I won't make again :)

    Thanks for your help.

Hmm actually having looked at the case there is a problem with the size.

    It's too big. The biggest it can be is 22 x 54 x 50. The one you suggested is 20.7 x 58.8 x 46.8

Could you suggest an alternative and change the fans if necessary? (I don't mind if it's more expensive)

Why the size restriction? I assume you are using an old school pc desk that has a space for the pc? Most of the better cases won't fit into those dimensions and you want to allow some space for air.

    I'll have a look anyway.
