FS: Mavic Ksyrium SLR wheelset

I have a brand new Mavic Ksyrium SLR wheelset for sale.

The wheels came with my new top-end Cannondale Supersix Evo bike but as I already have a pair of DuraAce C24 lightweight clinchers for climbing and deep rims for flats, I don't actually need the wheels so am reluctantly selling them - they're easily the slickest looking clinchers I've ever seen so I'm having to force the head to overrule the heart in deciding to sell these.

The Mavic info page for these wheels is here and here's what the Cannondale site said for the spec:

    Rims: Mavic Ksyrium SLR WTS
    Hubs: Mavic Ksyrium SLR
Tires: Mavic Yksion, Griplink Front and Powerlink Rear, 700x23c, folding

They've got the Zicral spokes which look the absolute business and it's the different front and rear wheel tires mentioned above. They come with tires and tubes, 4 Mavic brake pads, skewers, manual (bag includes some plastic tools I think are for adjusting the hubs). They do not come with wheel covers/bag and no cassette is included in this sale (though I'm happy to transfer a cassette for the buyer when we meet).

The wheels are brand new and have never been on the road. Most places I've seen them online have them around 1,400euro but Wiggle have a good offer on them at around 1,260 euro (Cycling magazine listed them as 1,600 sterling but mags always seem to overstate prices). I'll set an asking price here of 1,100 euro and am open to reasonable offers.

Photos of the wheels are available in this SkyDrive folder.

I live in Dublin 12 and work in Sandyford and can arrange a to meetup anywhere in or around Dublin for the purchase. The wheels can be inspected before paying but as they are being sold as in brand new condition, I can't accommodate test rides as they would lower the value should the tester not purchase for whatever reason.

Would absolutely love to be able to upgrade to these wheels but the price is too high for me unfortunately. If you have any trouble selling and drop the price (quite a bit!) please let me know as I'd be very interested!!

Thanks Waylander, I appreciate these are very much a premium-end set of wheels so naturally that limits the number of potential buyers. I'll lower the asking price to 1,000 euro but if I had to go much below that I'd instead opt to hold onto them as they're worth well more than that...and all I need is the excuse to justify getting to hang onto them and indulge myself by getting to use them!

No worries Frank I can see where you're coming from. Doesn't look like they're going to drop inside my budget! Good luck with the sale or even if you hold onto them!

Hi Frank. I'm running Tiagra on my bike. Will my cassette suit your wheels?Regards.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,032 ✭✭✭FrankGrimes

Hi, I'm almost certain it will work. 10-speed cassettes should work with the right spacer, 11-speeds work straight up with no spacer. Pretty sure 9-speed will work too with the right spacers.

    What's your cassette - 10-speed or 9-speed?

    It's 9 speed.

Hey, yes, 9-speed cassette will work with the 1.8mm spacer on the 11-speed compatible Shimano hubs that are on these wheels. More details are available here.

    Offer 900

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 619 ✭✭✭sweetswing

My offer is valid until 5 today , the more I think about it the more excuses I'm finding not to buy them .
I really really want them but I really really don't need them :D

Hi sweetswing, I've been offline as my wife has been ill (on the up now thankfully). I'll accept the offer of 900 euro.

I haven't heard back from sweetswing so these are still up for sale.

600 offered i know its a bit low but just got a new frame

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,032 ✭✭✭FrankGrimes

Thanks, but I was very reluctant to accept the 900 euro offer and I won't go below that amount as the wheels are worth way more than that - if I don't get an offer for that amount, that's fair enough, I'd keep them myself and sell my C24s after a while in that case.

Dropping the price of these to 850 euro and leaving them up for one week, I'll then close the ad and start using them myself if I don't get an offer for 850 euro.
