My parents record player was broken and thrown out before I was born but a couple of the records were still lying around the house when I was young. One was by I think Sean Dunphy and had him posing with a St Bernard dog on the cover and another record was by a Scottish folk singer called Fraser Bruce which was autographed and dedicated to my Dad.They had a cassete as well of Elvis called US male which wouldent play properly and sounded really wonky.

My dad bought a CD player in '83, top-loading Sony unit, so I can't remember them having many records at all. In those days they still had a significant residual value and they would have been sold on when they got the CD of the same album/performance.

However, Clifford T Ward, Simon & Garfunkel, Leonard Cohen and Charlie Landsborough all featured heavily. That and classical works I never bothered with the names of.

I grew up listening to the Beatles, Neil Diamond, the Everly Brothers, Kenny Rogers (oddly), Shirley Bassey and generous doses of Elvis.

    Never done me any harm

My Dad liked Status Quo, my Mam was a fan of Dr. Hook and showband stuff. My uncle was in a group as well and played locally. :)
