Question about back to education and an internship

I am currently on holidays from college just finished my degree, but kind of thinking of going back to do the honours degree as I've done fairly well getting a 1.1
I told the social that I am going back to collage.

I seen an internship in engineering and I applied on Monday done am interview today and was told I had it if I want. The company has said they may be able to take me on after the 9 months. The company also said that if i decide to go back to college September is ok and they don't mind.

So my question is if I leave the internship 2.5 months in will it effect me getting the back to education for my last year if I decide to go back. I may very decide to stay on the full 9 months and take a full time job if the offer as its a very good company which is expanding.

Thanks for any replies in advance.

    Hi,

I am on the BTEA now and going into my final year....I found an internship at the start of the summer and called FAS/Job bridge whatever its called now. To ask about doing an intership over the summer months or was it strictly 6 or 9 months. (you know to bend the rules for someone that really wants to work!!!!!)

I was told yes I could do it and you just hand in your weeks notice to the company when you plan to leave, but if you do this you will be blacklisted regarding any other internships.

She said nothing about my BTEA being affected at all.

Time on BTEA counts towards qualifying time for JobBridge internships. However, in order to get a JobBridge Internship you have to have completed the full term of the course/degree for which you were approved for BTEA i.e., you would not be eligible for JobBridge in the summers between academic years of the course for which you were granted BTEA. Alternatively, you would qualify for JobBridge if you abandoned the course/degree and produced a letter from the college stating same.

Periods spent on Back to Education Allowance, VTOS, FÁS/Fáilte Ireland Training course, Youthreach, FIT, Community Employment Schemes, TUS, the Rural Social Scheme, Back to Work Scheme, Back to Work Enterprise Allowance, FÁS Job Initiative or Job Assist will count towards meeting the eligibility of JobBridge provided:

The individual has completed these programmes
    Has a live claim
Is in receipt of Jobseekers Allowance/ Jobseekers Benefit/ One Parent Family Payment/ Disability Allowance or signing for Social Insurance Contribution Credits immediately before commencing on JobBridge.

    should i chance it?
I am just afraid if I take it and don't like it or not what I was expecting I will be friged if I want to go back and do my honours degree
When i ring the company today they will be checking to see am I eligible. Will some one from jobs bridge be back in contact with me then.

    @mick 69

I just finished a BTEA last week and seen an internship that would benefit me so much....but I was told I have to wait 3 months between each scheme...

....slap in the face for wanting to work for peanuts:mad:

    Worth double checking...

Periods spent on Back to Education Allowance, VTOS, FÁS/Fáilte Ireland Training
courses, Youthreach, FIT, Community Employment Schemes, TUS, the Rural Social
Scheme, Back to Work Scheme, Back to Work Enterprise Allowance, Momentum
Courses, FÁS Job Initiative or Job Assist will count towards meeting the eligibility of JobBridge, provided:
 The individual has completed these programmes
     Has a live claim
 Is in receipt of Jobseekers Allowance/Jobseekers Benefit/ One Parent Family
Payment/Disability Allowance or signing for Social Insurance Contribution
Credits immediately before commencing on JobBridge.

Commencement on the internship is dependant on DSP confirming the
    individual’s eligibility

Maybe you can get an internship outside JobBridge? There are a lot of companies that don't even qualify for JB and are probably going to give you the same or even more experience!
