Offie in South Dublin City/County

    Hi all,

Looking for a good offie in South Dublin City (work off Harcourt St.) or in South County (live round Stillorgan). I've really taken to craft beers and ales lately, Tesco in Stillorgan being my source. I've exhausted the range that they stock and reading the 'what are you drinking this week' thread makes me jealous of all these great tipples that I'm missing out on.

I understand that Carvill's of Camden St. is good and its very handy for me. Going to spin around there after work to see if it has reopened yet. The Celtic Whiskey shop on Dawson St. is also a very viable option but I believe that they haven't got the best selection of beers.

Can anyone recommend somewhere else I could try? Ideally looking for someplace on the Green Line Luas/46a route/walking distance of my location. Thanks in advance!

On the South side, Redmond's in Ranelagh and Deveney's in Dundrum would both have very good reputations.

Redmonds in ranelagh is just down from the LUAS station (2 stops from Harcourt) and has a fine selection of craft beers.

Carvill's has got a "sold" sign on it so it might be a while before it's reopened/may not be an offy anymore.

    +for Deveney's in Dundrum.

I find Redmond's to be better than Deveney's at the moment but both are great.

The Dark Horse in Blackrock would also be close to you in Stillorgan.

Redmonds of Ranelagh is the best off license in Ireland, I'd say.

O'briens in the beacon has a decent amount

In Blackrock, Dark horse (offy attached to the pub, used to be the Avoca) or the Cellar on the main street (near the starbucks/post office, used to be an oddbins) both have a HUGE range.

O'Briens in stillorgan has a couple but probably nothing the Tesco doesn't have.

Take a trip down to Blackrock, you won't be disappointed !

I was going to say oddbins too, used to have some good deals.

    Googled them and found this.

The Whelan's Off Licence on Wexford St/Camden St is great for all kinds of Craft Beers and it's just around the corner from Harcourt St.

In addition to the above suggestions, Molloys in Nutgrove has a wide range of the craft brews last I checked and afaik have the usual 4/5 beers for X deals. Scope out your nearest Supervalu. Each is different depending on the offie manager but most of them have some sort of 'World beer' section.

I find Supervalu to be the most expensive place to buy craft/world beers in my corner of south-Dublin. Supervalu Churchtown, for example, fluctuates wildly between terrible selections and then decent enough ranges for a supermarket. They're always pricey though. That being said, it's handy if you're getting your groceries and fancy a malty treat too!
