"I started writing my explanation back in February and to my shame it has sat in a folder unfinished. I think I wanted it to be a story of sorts but I now know it doesn't need to be entertaining – facts, names and places will do, and then a basic conclusion. It's not my place to suggest how to use the information, just to provide it. This latest affair has reminded me I really need to get on with it and send it to someone who I think will use it wisely. I'm not seeking to be a hero or a martyr for doing so. I have no agenda or a position to defend and I certainly don't think it'll win me any brownie points but if it helps understand why the culture got as bad as it did or why the Omertà dominated then so be it."

Millar latest blog piece is more interesting than usual. He was a big hero of mine as a kid. He always denied doping to my knowledge (though there was a failed test). I would like to think that he was one of the good guys.

Still, the points he makes in the article are valid. If you have knowledge then it needs to be aired.

While Millar certainly was up there as a hero and certainly one of the better riders as well as earning respect for his defence of Stephen Roche in 'that' giro nothing now surprises me.
It seems that its to clear his conscience more then anything

I was in Billy Bilsland's shop the other day and Millar's KOM jersey is still hanging there proudly. Friendly chap there says he has never met him nor has anyone in the shop!

They also recently got in a signed Peter Sagan jersey which is unframed near the door.
