My wife was driving through a toll today, through the tag lane. A car was ahead of her and the barrier went up when she went to drive through it came down on top of her car a broke off!! I assume her tag did not register properly.
She didn't stop as she was in a bit of shock!!
Didn't damage car luckily enough, think they are padded somewhat.

I would have thought that there would be a sensor at the bottom of the barrier to stop it coming down on a car??? Obviously not!!

Why do some people just not want to pay the toll?

There's no point having the barriers if they're not capable of delivering a good smack.

Did your wife wait for it to go back down again before she drove forward ?

The sensor was probably set off when the car in fromt passed through, bringing the barrier down. Did your wife slow down enough or was she right up behind the car infront?

She had a tag, it was the automatic tag lane she had problems using :pac:

That would surely defeat the purpose.

They are completely padded. My dad bent one to 90 degrees when it accidentally came down when we were following a blue light ambulance

She'll just have to build a bridge and get over it!

Surely the lack of a sensor is to stop people skipping through a toll bridge. In fairness not waiting for a barrier to come down and register the tag isn't the brightest
