Hi guys i have a bit of a problem, i have been in receipt of RA for over 12 months now without any problems until now. I checked my bank account online this morning and notice the RA for this month hasn't arrived, my rent is due to be taken by standing order on Monday but I'm short now.

Any idea of why my RA hasn't come ? None of my circumstances have changed and as far as I'm aware i haven't done anything wrong, could this be due to the new changes in rent limits that have been brought in recently and is there anything i can do now to get this sorted asap ?

My head is wrecked right now and i don't know what to do :(

Rent allowance is now subject to means testing every 6 moths as far as I know.

A form is usually sent out to the address at which the rent allowance is paid to and you have 7 days to return this form to the local relieving officer or it will be cut off!

Maybe there is a problem with the direct debit system? Can you supply the landlord/estate agent with a statement showing that you have not received it? Maybe they will grant you time to sort it out?

Really ? I haven't received any renewal form nor any form of notification that i have been cut off. The landlords are sound so I'm sure they'll give me some time to sort it out but how do i go about that ? My local cwo doesn't handle the RA anymore as far as i know it goes through a rents unit, I've tried to call but all I'm getting is a voicemail service.

Even if i do get a renewal form and send it off any idea how long i could be waiting to receive the payment and will it be back dated ?

    Thanks for any advice btw.

In Westmeath at least it goes through the local cwo and he/she decides the rates etc.

I suppose all you can do now is wait until Monday and contact the Rents unit and see what they have to say.

    No worries.

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

If you weren't sent any review forms and you've heard nothing about this, chances are there's been a problem with the payment or bank.
Don't panic..contact the CWO on Monday and ask what's going on.
