Heating Water: Oil Versus Electricity.

    Given the price of oil, a condenser boiler running at 94 % peak performance, a new fully covered hot water cylinder. Would it be more economical to heat a full tank of water, say twice a week using oil or electricity? Is there a way of working this out?

    This question applies to Northern Ireland. Gas is not currently an option.

    While this is a particular question it might well open up a discussion as to the pros and cons of electricity versus oil.

    It can be worked out, but the following is required:
    Make and model of boiler & BTU's or Kilo watts of boiler.
    Running time of boiler to do the required job.
    Cost of oil per litre your are paying.

    Kilo watts of immersion.
    Running time of immersion to do the job.
    Cost of your electricity per Kilo watt.
