Just lost a lens cap in a field in Kerry. I tried to retrace my steps, and managed to step into a big pile of cow sh!te ! Insult to injury...

Granted I could have lost the camera, but replacing a lens cap is a nuisance.

Have you every lost some of your kit?:o

A couple of years ago I lost my nifty fifty after shooting a gig either in Andrews Lane Theatre, in the taxi or it fell out of my camera bag in the house of the girl's house I went back to. It really bugged me and I couldn't figure out at what point of the night it disappeared. Had to buy it again soon after, got it cheap enough on eBay.

lost track of the amount of times I've "lost" a piece of kit.

my biggest loss was when someone replaced my 70-200mm f2.8 IS lens with a 70-200mm f2.8 lens

Apart from that - have lost flashes, batteries, lenses, but never a body (yet)

I specialise in losing flash diffusers. Have definitely lost at least 6 of them over the last couple of years, the most recent about 2 or 3 weeks ago.

Apart from that (and having a load of kit stolen from my van in Dubland about 2 years ago) there's not a lot that I've lost. The only other thing that comes to mind is two sets of rechargeable AA batteries that I lost in one go.
No bodies, lenses or flashes yet thank God.

(Why do I get the feeling that I just poxed myself and I'll probably be changing this post in the next week :( )

    Ouch, how did that happen?

Ireland game about 8-9years ago …. I left my gear (like every other photographer) to hold my seat/area to shoot from…. went off did team shots and came back to gear…. with my lens switched.

pointless complaining to the FAI or Lansdowne ….security don't pay attention to which photographer is at which bag …or who owns what.

would be very easy for someone to do similar with a 400mm f2.8 lens or collection of gear - even the IRFU/GAA allow people in to take photos who "know someone" or are shooting for a blog or website etc…..without proper vetting.

I left my lens cap down on the ground beside the canal in Galway while I was taking a photo once, and a duck ran off with it. He was back in the water by the time I realised what was happening.

What does a duck even need a lens cap for?

I had it on top of a light stand and I must have not tightened it to the hot shoe properly, when I went to move the stand it fell off.

It doesn’t seem as bad as I first thought; it still fires but will not zoom and makes a horrible clicking noise when it tries.
