I went to get my aunts pension while I was over this week as she's been in hospital for months but as it was more than 60 days since it was last collected....it's been stopped. Can anyone tell me how she can get it started again ?.

What kind of pension is it? State pension? (OAP, widows etc?)

    It's an OAP state pension...

Widows and OAP pensions are handled by the people in Sligo, give them a bell at the numbers below. Make sure you have all of your aunt's details in front of you like PPS number, date of birth and the pension book as they are likely to ask you questions to verify that you are her niece and have access to her personal details.

If you have a talk bundle on your mobile phone, use the (071) number, otherwise use the 1890 one.

    Tel:(071) 915 7100
    Locall:1890 500 000

Thanks for this...I don't have a pension book but I have her card, so I'll ring them just before I come over again in the new year.

Sorry if I'm a bit out of date, I guess the OAPs use the card these days, same as most people collecting social welfare allowances.

It is, understandably, quite a formal process to appoint an agent to collect any payment, with the person in receipt of the payment filling out the application form. http://www.welfare.ie/en/Pages/Appointment-of-Agents.aspx

Your aunt can also opt to have this payment paid into a bank account.
