    Well folks,
Just booked mayrhofen for one week this Saturday, normally spend an age researching and booking everything separately but ended up going to a travel agent this time and walking out 20 mins later..so easy..
I was thinking of changing my board (06/07 baron es) tried a few demo boards last year really liked libtech dark series, but can't justify spending that much on a new board, should I bring my board with me and try and trade it in against something fresher or would I be better off leaving it at home and putting it up on eBay/done deal..

Can anyone recommend good sports shops with a good selection for rental/purchase..?

I have no advice to add to this but am considering buying my first board myself (after about 6 years of renting for a week at a go) and trying to figure out if buying in Mayorhofen or online is the best approach, heading over the first of Feb myself.

Optimum; Luigis and ski centre Hubert Kroll are the two best rental shops in Mayrhofen don't know if they do boards but worth a look there is also a large intersport in the Village.

There is/was a specialized board shop (Its been 2 Years) in the bank of shops down the village walking past the ice bar from the Penken lift, Probably a bit early in the season to get a deal on kit but couple of things, the weather has been **** so shops might be willing to do you a deal. Or you could pick up some of last years models cheaper!

Is there any websites that you could recommend getting a good price for a mid range board/bindings?

Thanks for the names of the shops in Mayorhofen btw

Cheers Fattes, will have a look out for them shops.

As for websites, checkout blue tomato have also used Hotzone.TV when they have a sale on.

I regret not buying a board in the states when we were recently, difference in price was unreal.

Few mates I was in Mayrhofen with last year went to the Luggis place and we're given pretty brutal boots and skis.

They went back and gave them back after the first day. In fairness to the shop, it gets a lot of good reviews/recommendations, but that's my experience of it.

Out group Only used Luigis once when ski centre Kröll was closed for refurb, and it was ok. I would always go with Kröll as the 1st choice

I rented a snowboard and boots last year from the shop directly across from the Penkenban gondola! 50 quid for the week you just can't argue with those prices!

I've bought snowboards and surfboards off ebay.co.uk a couple of times for myself and friends. Good selection of second hand gear and generally go for good prices, you can use paisley freight to ship the item to Ireland for £30, they pick up the item and drop it to your door - highly recommended used them 5/6 times now for a number of large items.
