Child Benefit Question

    Hello,

My son (does 6 Months next week), never got the Child Benefit, and we just realized that 2 days ago, and by our Mistake or even bad informed.

When my partner claimed maternity benefit, she was informed that she would be also registered for the child benefit, and as they increased her maternity benefit by 30 euros or something we thought it was the child benefit, then just discovered this week child benefit its just paid once per month.

At the welfare office they told they could see in their database that she never got the child benefit.

Then I had a vague idea of getting a letter after we registered him, with a form, and at the time, we didnt send it as we thought he was already registered for child benefit when he did the maternity benefit claim.

So we did just this week, and my question is, will we receive the amount since we submitted the claim or since his day of birth ?

Thank you and sorry for my ignorance!

Day of birth as far as I know. Your looking at over €3000.

    How comes €3000 ?

    Not 6 months x €130 = €780 ?

    €130 x 6 months

Certainly doesn't add up to €3000

Op you should be entitled to € 780

If this is your first child, the form was mostly likely a request for Bank Details, and since you did not reply, they could not send the money.

For later children, they assume the same bank details as used for the first child
