Picked it up yesterday. €5800. Any owners care to comment on things to watch out for ? How are they on diesel ? Only issue with the car is the rear drivers door once locked / unlocked via remote, will not open from outside, no problems opening from within. Guessing its not a deal breaker ?

Its a 2005, I screwed up with the thread title :(

Check if the passenger floor is wet, They suffered a bit from waterleaks and if im right the central control unit is under the passenger footwell.

Looks tidy and pretty original anyway. The 2.0tdi is those did have their problems.

Yeah, it seems really straight. Excellent nick. Full documented SH, water pump & belt done in Nov. 160K Km. No dampness in foot well.

Its on a label on the inside cover of the service maintenance log. Mines BLB:mad: I have to be optimistic. I know 2 people with same car and never had any trouble, although I do appreciate that a quick searck does throw up some horror stories.

The oil pump balancer shaft can be replaced with a more robust version. Some engineering company in the uk have developed a fix iirc.

George Dalton has helped lads on this forum in his garage to get this sorted.

Worthwhile doing otherwise you have a ticking timebomb. Quite common that this fails and causes engine seizure.

Again Google it if you are unsure. Plenty threads on this forum about the issue.

I would send George a pm. He could at least put your mind at rest.

A friend of mine owns one of these, and his engine just died. Low oil pressure failure.

That's due to the known issue above starves the engine of oil.

Yes oil pump balancer shaft - Do a google on it...

Had the same engine (Diff code BKP) in Passat and engine wise the only trouble with it was with injectors that were covered under vw recall campaign.
