Leather seats covered in warranty?

So before I call Audi I was wondering what others thought. My drivers seat has a "fold" in the leather on the rhs of the actual seat, its not torn or scratched or anything, just like its a little loose so it developed this.

Would you think this should be covered by warranty? They are the valcona leather so I think could be expensive to fix if I have to do myself. Car under warranty till end July

    Thanks

What kind of mileage is on the car?

And at the risk of sounding smart (I'm not intending to be) - are you a big lad?

I think you would be hard pressed to get any joy from them, but you could try. Do you have a pic of the flaw ?

yeh will try them..as no matter the size of the driver..i dont think that should happen within 18 months with properly fitted seat coverings

My seat went in bits in similar time I my audi. Not leather though. On mine, it was the internal padding that went and it looked like there was 200k on it at only 23k miles. Audi looked after it with new internal foam.

What will normally happen here is that they will ask you to bring the car to your local dealer who will look at the seats to determine if the damage is due to premature wear or excessive wear and tear. They may ask the dealer to submit photos of the seats before authorizing them to repair or replace them.

See if there are reports of other people having the same problem with their cars, uk/us forums and so on.

Ford replaced leather seat bases in the focus RS due to sagging.

interesting...quite a few threads on this on google actually...will see what they say anyway.

That is good, the more common the issue, the stronger your case is.

yeh reading most of them it says audi claim wear and tear. According to uk warranty doc after 6250 miles issues with Seat and backrest covers is counted as "standard wear and tear"...but as said will see what audi ireland say..

From experience of getting warranty work done, your relationship with your dealer is pivotal when it comes to them fighting your case. Did you buy the car from a main dealer, is the car serviced there regularly or has a full Audi service history? The more valued customer you are of theirs the more they should push Audi to cover it rather than risk loosing your business. Especially if you start talking about changing brands. :)

There you go. Put the pressure on them if Audi play hard ball.

Also keep an eye on UK eBay, original audi seat base covers come up for sale often enough.

    Example.

    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/AUDI-A3-VIENNA-LEATHER-SEAT-BASE-COVER-8P0881405AC-/131156481642?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item1e8989166a

They are mad money from the dealer.

You can see the right hand side of the seat in the second picture. And the rest of seat in the other. Its such a nice seat that I would really like it to look all good. The passenger seat is impacted slightly also but not to the same extent and GF is not remotely heavy..so its not that

That looks like it happened because the bolster underneath has collapsed so you might have a case.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,279 ✭✭✭Stallingrad

No way does that look like normal wear and tear, that bolster is distorting.

as i said its like that since probably 4/5 months after i got it..I will call them today and see how it goes :D
