HR Giger, whose "biomechanical" artwork lent Ridley Scott's film Alien much of its terror, has died aged 74 from injuries sustained in a fall on stairs, according to the Swiss press.

    My inner goth kid weeps.

I shall sit inside and use my airbrush all day.

There were secret willies in his art.

Sad to hear this. I love his work. And yet more people are concerned about Jay Z getting a thump.

Very sorry to hear this, he was a very talented artist.

One of my favourite artists. He came up with the alien design which is iconic and implanted in the cultural imagination as that which signifies terror. And also he influenced videogames design and films. One of my favourite works would be the Blondie album cover he did, very esoteric and Egyptian. He had unreal artistic skill as well, it's very difficult to get up to that standard.

So the two or three bits that didn't have mickeys in them actually have mickeys in them?!

    At least he was consistent.

His work on the game Dark Seed/Dark Seed II was incredibly dark but brilliant.

You know who I'm really going to be pissed off if they died?

    Patrick Stewart. I'll legit cry.
