    Hi

Hoping to go to Paris for a day trip next week - using Ryanair to and from Beauvais and the bus shuttle to Porte Maillot. I expect to be in Porte Maillot by about noon. Then getting the bus back to Beauvais about 6.30 or 7 Just wondering if anyone has any advice or suggestions on how to then make the best of the 6 hours or so I will have in Paris - how to get to see the main sights Eiffel Tower, Arc De Trioumph, Champs Eleyses ? Also would like to try and get some pictures along the banks of the River, and maybe up to the Momarte area.

Has anyone done a day trip before and have any advice on best ways to fit as much as possible in on foot.

    Thanks for any suggestions :)

If you just want to see things, it should be fine. If you want to get to the top of the tower, you'll be under pressure as it can be over an hour in the Q and isn't worth it. IMO. Same goes for the louvre.
Metro is easy to use so get an all day ticket

I suggest you make your way to the Pont d'Alma (near Trocadéro) and get one of the river cruises (vary between 45mins/2hrs). That way you get to see a lot of the main attractions while still resting your feet for all the walking you'll be doing, and you'll have an idea where they are in terms of proximity. Enjoy!

Take the Metro to Etoile which is the principal stop for the Arc de Triompe, walk down the Ave de Champs Elysees to Place de la Concorde and onwards to the Louvre. Turn right and head across the river to Ile de la Cite (one of two islands in the river Seine in central Paris) where you can see the cathedral of Notre Dame. Take as many photos along the river as you like. Then take metro up to Ecole Militaire or Champ de Mars to get to the Eiffel Tower.

If you want to go to Montmartre, it will be another Metro and you can see the artists or Sacre Coeur as you wish. Easily do able in 6 hours even taking time off for lunch. You must stop at a brasserie at one of the many large junctions designed by Haussmann. Lots of roads meet together, they all have brasseries. Steak-frites followed by creme brulee.
