Removing aftermarket alarm

My car, 2001 A3 is fitted with a Laserline alarm. I want to remove it because its a pita to sort out if I let the car battery go dead ( left the interior light on doh!) Also I have to have the fob with me and has an ugly transponder thing on the dash. The OEM alarm is decent enough as it is to I want to return it to that and get an OEM key and fob, the fold one. What issues am I going to come across here? I understand its hard to remove on purpose for obvious reasons.

Just turn it off with the key on the main unit under the bonnet.
