Toilet not clearing properly

We had the flushing mechanism in the cistern replaced a couple of weeks ago as the previous one had broken. Since being replaced the toilet flushes but doesn't clear whats in the toilet properly. Toilet paper and heavier "material" is left still in the toilet after a flush.

Any idea what could be wrong?

    Thanks

Does the cistern fill completely up to the marked max level?
    Does the cistern empty completely?
Does it flush on one movement(sic) of the lever handle?
Did it always flush the contents properly before the mechanism broke?

It seems to flush fine but when we check there's still stuff left in the bowl.

Mabye clarify the NO above - do you have to build up pressure by cranking the lever multiple times before the syphon takes over and pulls the water from the cystern?
Or are you just saying it takes multiple flushes to shift contents of the bowl?

Kind of both? We are cranking the lever to try and oush more water through, not sure if that would even happen? But certainly it takes multiple flushes to clear the contents of the bowl.

Sound like the problem is from the bowl onwards maybe a partial blockage...
Try a plunger as a first step.

It might just be a few cotten buds lodged at the wrong spot!
If you can clear the bowl with multiple flushes it doesnt appear to be blocked completely.
If plunger doesn't work I think you need a pro!

Who in their right mind flushes cotton buds down the toilet?
