Why don't they sell mince pies year round?

Just biting into one seriously delicious mince pie, and I gotta wonder, why do we only get to see them at Christmas? They really should be an any time of the year treat.

Nothing stopping you from making your own. Jar of mincemeat + jus-rol pastry + oven = nom.

http://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/2174/unbelievably-easy-mince-pies (just skip the make your own pastry bit...although that's easy too!).

F*ck it, I'm going to buy some on my way home this evening.

And then eat the whole packet....and feel sorry for myself.

I'd happily buy them year round.

250+ calories per pie though :(

Mince pies are an endangered species in my house, every year there's almost a fight to the death over the last one. I think what makes mince pies extra special is that you only get them once a year, they might get boring if we had them all the time.

I'm pretty sure you can get them in Tesco year round. I could have sworn that I've noticed them on shelves at different stages during the year.

I bought a 6 pack a few days ago, I had one and so did my husband (who doesn't even like them). The dog ate the other 4 :( And by ate, I mean he tore the box open and mashed them into the floor.

Because everybody just pretends to like them at christmas time, same as sprouts

Warm mince pies and whipped cream, yum yum. Just as well they aren't on sale all year or I'd be the size of a small country by now.

I love mince pies, just warm out of the oven with a little cream, total heaven. Could not eat them all year round, expecially at 250 calories each ouch

I only like them because they help put me in Christmas mood. I'll be avoiding them for a while, I'd peak too early if I had some now.

That's probably a better use of them

I remember hearing about these first when I was about 11. Mincemeat. With whipped cream. Are you f*cking mental? (No friends jokes, please). Then I was told it was fruit, rather than the promised mince I was expecting. I tried contacting trading standards, but they were having none of it.

because seasonal specialities makes whatever time of the year it is more special, each country has its own ones, it's a fun thing. **** pancake Tuesday though coz I eat pancakes whenever I want

Even the dog won't eat them :D

    Some are nicer than other.

Now easter eggs all year round or christmas puddings:)
On second thoughts probably better than they're not!

Let's just worry about getting more meat pies available first. The mince ones can follow after.

Eurgh, the shop bought ones are rank.

You'd have to have a stockpile of the filling ready to go, takes a couple of months for it to mature enough.
