Possible silly question, but does the car actually have navigation? If so, wouldn't it already have a navigation card?

On the new 6 I think it's just a matter of inserting a SD card into a slot under the steering wheel to activate it.

And if it's a 2014 Mazda 3 wouldn't it already have 2014 maps from the factory?

cheaper to buy gps system from amazon uk 80 euro with lifetime maps

    Or a map for €3.99

    Not the same thing though....

If adding satnav only cost €80 or so, wouldn't the dealers have mentioned it?

Its €500 for navigation in the Mazda cx5 and 6, and considering the 3 came later I assume it's the same set up.

The SD card might be cheap but you'll find that there is no SD card reader and the antenna part is needed in the radio. If you look at the car to the right of the steering wheel there is a small compartment(that's good for nothing), this gets replaced with the SD card reader and I was told the radio has to come out and another part is required to connect to the antenna.

Just a bit of further info.

The dealer charges something like 200 euro plus for the navigation SD card.
The car has a Nav button that you can select.
Without the SD card, all it shows you is a compass view.
I'm presuming that all the cars come with a GPS receiver but that you need the SD card for the navigation to work.
I was hoping that one of the cards you can buy on ebay would work with the car.

Regards buying a dedicated GPS system.
For people who don't know the layout of the Mazda 3, it has a large tablet on top of the dash.
It's be a lot easier to have the maps on that screen than having another separate screen as well as that one.

Tried this once. Put a Mazda3 SD card into a 2013 Mazda3 with no NAV. It didn't work. You need more than the card.
