I was looking at the HP a few weeks ago but the Tech guy in the Indo gave it a very bad review and was much more enthusiastic about the Linx. I didn't go much further than that with my research.

The Linx7 is €30 cheaper also, and has a 64-bit processor compared to the 32-bit on the HP. I read some reviews of the HP that stated build quality was not very good, and also the headphone jack has tons of noise and static when being used, which is a dealbreaker for me.

I ordered the Linx 7 for €69.99 from Meteor which is a great deal in fairness.

Do you have a link for the meteor offer or is it a store buy?

This is not true, the HP has the atom Z3735G processor which is 64-bit capable (and which is the exact same one as what's in the Linx 7)

Both actually run 32-bit windows AFAIK but that's not a bad thing with only 1GB of RAM, binaries are smaller with 32-bit.

If you buy any PAYG smart-phone with the Linx tablet you should get a further €30 off the price but there may be terms and conditions station only one offer is allowed either the reduced price tablet or the tablet+Phone deal.

    You can get the Linx 7 for €44 from Meteor this way;

Add the Lumia 530 Prepay and Linx 7 to your basket, and the 30 euro off promotion will apply, leaving your total at just under 90 euro for both.

Sell the Lumia to CeX for €46 cash - https://ie.webuy.com/product.php?sku=SNOKL5304GDGMETA#.VMZNiP6sWFV

Your Linx 7 has now just cost you a mere €44! :D

    Ordered!

You could also sell the Office 365 Subscription (value €69) on Adverts.ie ... it includes 60 mins per month Skype talk and should include unlimited OneDrive Storage for 1 year.

Sell that for the right price and you've got your tablet for free :)

Is that not already pre-programmed into the tablet? Or is it on a separate key in the box itself?

I thought that it came as a separate code ... Already own Office so was looking to save a few quid that way. :)

Will let you know when mine arrives later this week.

Nope it is linked not just to the tablet but also to the operating system so if you wipe your tablet and reinstall a new version of windows 8.1/8/7 you lose the subscription. There is no product key for it.

    http://www.linx-tablets.com/linx-faq.html

There's no CD Key for the Office sub, so how would I re-install it once I've installed Windows 10?

The Office 365 is linked to the Win 8.1 OS installed on the device. If you try to change the OS you will not be able to use the software as it cannot be transferred.

You are absolutely right. There's no card with the HP Stream signature edition, the Office 365 Sub comes preinstalled.

Something else I noticed. The Office 365 Sub sets itself to Auto-Renew by default. Be sure to check on the Office site to cancel auto-renew your subscription after 1 year (costing €69.99)

    Link: https://stores.office.com/myaccount/home.aspx

    EDIT
Noticed that Paul Thurrott posted a handy way to update your Office 365 personal to an Office 365 Home subscription for $9.99. URL="https://www.thurrott.com/cloud/office-365/847/tip-convert-office-365-personal-office-365-home-just-9-99"]Link[/URL.

The difference being that Personal is for installing on 1 Tablet and 1 PC (or Mac), Home is for 5 Tablets and 5 PCs (or Macs).

UPS failed to deliver my stream tablet today despite An Post and fastway being able to brave the bit of sleet and rain we had in Carlow!

Item showed as being out for delivery and on time up to about 6pm when it changed to delayed due to "severe weather"! Now it is showing again for delivery tomorrow "all day"!

how can companies like DPD give a window of 90minutes for a delivery but UPS can't even manage to deliver within a full day timeframe?

I'd hate having to rely on these incompetents to deliver something vitally important!
