    Hi All,

Would anyone have a workaround method of cancelling or reseting the service vehicle message in the display.
Before you say "get it serviced" My usual place is not an opel dealer but I wouldn't bring the vehicle anywhere else. Its regularly serviced as required but the message is just bugging me when I turn the key and have to clear it every time.

My previous vehicle was a Passat and a poster on here gave me a work around for the same issue using a barely in ignition key and the dashboard buttons.

    Any suggestions appreciated

It is extremely easy to reset the service indicator on those.

    Ignition on engine off
Press the menu button on the indicator stalk
Use the rotary switch on the stalk to cycle through the options until you find the remaining oil life option
Press the button on the end of the stalk to reset, then press again to confirm

    Job done

I don't mean to question the work your regular garage does for you but if they aren't sufficiently clued up to have access to the information they need to reset the service indicator on your car then how do you know they are following the correct service schedule or using the correct spec oil?

just tried that method. engine oil life reset from 50% to 100%
removed key, inserted key, started vehicle
service vehicle soon appears again. Did I miss a step ?

re the garage, no problem no offence taken, the lads are excellent on things like oil spec and the correct intervals etc and will retain the empty oil containers to show me when I collect the car, same with any parts replaced. Indeed they wont be long telling you if you are not doing the right thing !

The service reset procedure won't work if there are fault codes stored in the engine ECU. So you may need to get it scanned.
