See thread in Motors forum. BMW are doing some of these for free as goodwill.

I've been using Dave for about 3 years. I have recommended him on numerous times to family and friends. You will not be sorry. Great guy, fantastic work and very reasonable as well.

I had an interesting conversation with the service manager in a BMW dealership when I was collecting my car last week.

It was in getting the brakes done but he mentioned that there was a new "service enhancement programme" due on my car. This consists of enhancements to the timing chain, the replacement of some parts and checks for premature wear on parts. I have an N47 engines 520d - 09 reg but 08 build.

It's an engine out job and seems to come with a lot of bits and pieces due to the engine coming out (aircon recharge, oil change etc.) The job comes with a loan car included and is free.

Just a thought that it might be worth a call to a dealer and see if there are any outstanding and free works that might be there waiting for you to ask. It seems that this programme only came about in January this year.

You car has a full BMW service history though, I think i've read that they were doing it with cars with a history but if your using an independent your snookered.

It's also being called a "Quality Assurance" program. Anything but a "recall" as they are not covering everyone. Or the experience has been mixed so far at least.

Fair enough - the joys of service inclusive I guess for the first few years...

Just got the news today that both my Bm's an F10 520d with only 100km 2011 model needs a new chain and my E90 520d with 140km 2009 also requires a new chain. Warranty work. This is disgraceful none the less.

Even more disgraceful that thousands of people have had to pay for this crap out of their own pockets and even now they are refusing goodwill in many cases.

We got 100% goodwill with mostly independent service history. 3 BMW stamps from new at the start but Indy ever since

    I'm confused.

Is this 'service enhancement' which includes tc fix free - even on an '08?

I thought this issue was fixed by 2011?!

    yeah but no but... ;)

    It's not a problem.

    It never was.

    It's your problem.

Good news, you are covered by our new "service enhancement"!

    It's your fault.

    Never heard of it.

    :confused::confused:

Yep - but only if you qualify.

It should be - the F10's used a different engine no? Might be some old stock E60's registered early in 2011?

The F10 still suffers from it up to and including some very early 2012 cars I believe.

    Not so

Mine had 2 services outside the network and I've just got it back with everything replaced, clutch and flywheel too. All under good will.

You car has a full BMW service history though, I think i've read that they were doing it with cars with a history but if your using an independent your snookered.

But surely if they are removing the enging they would have to discharge the a/c and regas and drop the oil as well.

Yes- they are included works. Was highlighting the other elements that would be done if the work was needed.
