Club fitting testimonials

Just looking for some opinions on this - mods if you think there is anything controversial in this feel free to remove it.

I came upon a site from a clubfitter that I had used previously which mentioned my club fitting experience with them on their blog - the post claims that I lost 3 shots after getting my irons fitted with them and includes the text of an email that I sent to them after deciding to use the fitter instead of a regular golf shop.

However I (unfortunately!) have not dropped the 3 shots off my handicap that they claimed (.4 at time of writing!) and in the blog post they've changed the wording of the email that I sent them (subtly but still changed) to suggest that the regular golf shop fitting "didn't make any sense" and that they are not proper club builders - I never said either of these things.

I am happy with the clubs since but I am not happy that this crowd are making false claims about my handicap reduction since using the clubs - and also that they altered the text of an email that I sent them and then posted it up on their site. I've asked them to take down the post and assume they will - just interested to hear anyone else's views on this - would you have bothered even following it up? Just doesn't sit right with me personally the approach they took.

I think you are absolutely entitled to insist they remove it. Seems very unprofessional to me. I have provided a testimonial to a golf pro before but it was posted on the site exactly as I wrote it. If it was miss leading to other potential customers I would have done the same as you and ask that it be removed.

You were 100% right and it is concerning and would make me think twice about using them. If they can't be honest in something like this how could you trust them at all.

i think i would have done more than ask for it to be removed

That thought crossed my mind too but wasn't really sure what they would have done/could do for me beyond taking it down. As it happens they've just agreed to take it down, no apology or admission that they were out of order. I won't go back to them again in any event but glad I spotted it by chance as I would've been none the wiser that they used my info. on the site in this way

not necessarily that they could have done anything for you, but they should have explained why they did what they did. can't believe they did not even apologise

I'd be asking for them to removed it as well - false advertising.

Please don't name them on the thread either though.

:D I don't think he has to name them, they're are many club fitters out there but the OP refers to a club builder so not many of them around. At least he's happy with the clubs. Some chancers with their post though.

    Disgraceful.
BOB81, after the build though, did you find that you
had a lower ball flight with longer more controlled distance ?

Considering a club fitter must have hundreds if not thousands of customers, it's pretty damming when they have to fabricate the results of one of them to use as a testimonial.

    Customer Case Study

"Fix came to us and left as nuts as he came in with a crazy OTT swing - he had his lowest ever scores in the next 3 months - had the night of his life in Temple bar and once very drunk, hit a slice so wide, it landed perfectly on the middle of the next fairway - the only club that he did not get fitted with us, was his putter - this was useless, he now reckons a date with Kelly Brook with the permission of his wife is on and things look up for The Irish Soccer Squad, talk of a pay rise is perhaps unrelated , but confidence in life is contagious. "

Also - are you interested in buying into level 1 of a sales opportunity - it is called money ball 2.

The truth - bought off a shelf , hit about 10,000 balls with new clubs.

Lower ball flight definitely..distance a little up but to call it controlled would be a stretch!😉 also copped that the clubs they posted that they fitted me for didnt exist 2 yrs ago when my fitting actually took place...

They're masters at self promotion it seems. Live and learn I guess would be the message.
As Fix says, sometime off the rack can be a perfect fit.

Just to update that I did just get an apology from the club fitter - their first response didn't indicate that one would be forthcoming but better late than never I suppose. They offered a small gift by way of apology (that wasn't my aim in complaining in any event) and were quite sincere that the person who wrote the blog had got their details wrong. Can only take them at face value I suppose.

nice to hear that they fessed up.
if it is who i'm thinking it might be, it has become another reason not to go and see them though..... i was always a bit skeptical about them, but curious non the less

I do think it's a shame regarding not naming as every fitter gets tarnished.
I've had two fittings, happy with both, one was very good and the other excellent, for certain I would custom fit any future purchase.

I'm not surprised by them, they are really letting themselves down.

I actually think the apology only came as they read your post here. If they keep the way they are going, my guess is they will run out of golfers soon.

They should remember bad experiences are talked about way more then good ones.

Got the apology gift last week - a dozen taylormade tour preferred x golf balls. still sceptical of the carry on but a good customer service response given i wasnt looking for anything from them. Unsure if the spin characteristics of this ball will work with my swing tho...better get a fitting.....
