Did it fail an nct if not leave well enough alone or you are getting yourself into a world of hassle.
You would be better off cleaning your own and treating them unless they are badly corroded.

I agree, a rub of some 180 grit and paint them up with Olive drab paint.
Making brake lines is not simple.

I have the second one you linked for on the car jobs and its actually brilliant, bit fiddly when you use it first but makes brilliant consistent flares

We use the second one at work all the time too. It's a great little tool. You can flare a pipe in the tightest of spaces.

Can the second one be used with only one hand ???

No its quite a bit more complicated that it looks but will make any of the 3 flare types beautifully

NCT is soon but I like to worry about things it might fail on.

What's the major issue/bogeyman with the job? I know I have to lower the tank etc. I have access to a pit the odd time.

Actually forming the lines so they run cleanly is the biggest issue, Are you intending on making the complete lines from the ABS pump back to the flexi-hose?
Its a lot of bending and forming TBH.
If you are joining the copper to the steel lines be aware the steel lines are very hard, and not easy to join.
Fair play if you are going to do the job but I'd be taking the easy way out if the lines are only mildly rusty.
Paint is a lot cheaper than Kunifer as well.

Yeah I was planning on running them the whole way from the pump, I'd rather the steel pipes were completely replaced. The route doesn't look terrible but given what you're saying I might just paint them for the moment and assign a weekend to the full job during the summer.

Your idea of rust might be totally different to mine a little bit of surface rust is ok give them a clean and paint them with kurust.

Out of curiosity what make model and year is it ??

Don't paint brake lines they came unpainted so you can visually check their condition.

Once painted you'll be none the wiser of their condition

Actually they come coated in plastic as standard as it provides even more protection than paint

Try cleaning them with a wire brush then paint on that kurust it does a great job on them.
I put that stuff on a 99 focus a few weeks ago that had failed a test it brought them up like new and passed the test saved the customer a fortune and me a lot of grief.
If there is any deep pitting they will need to be changed.

ran it through the NCT there, didn't have time to paint the lines in the end and they weren't even mentioned. Grand.
