I never lose my temper in my dreams, never use bad language, am never unkind to anyone. On the contrary, I am always good tempered and helpful to others. Are you the same person in your dreams?

Aside from the occasional superpowers and pulling power, I'm pretty much the same.

I'm usually sitting my Leaving Cert in my dreams, and then suddenly realise that I'm naked from the waist down.

If you are talking about actual dreams at night? My dreams would be abstract.

    Similar to as I am.

I would have to say my dreams at night are not really about doing bad things or good things or being a bad or a good person.

I mean I had a dream about going on a walk with the characters from wind and the willows. I then got kidnapped and escaped while my kidnapper was preparing poison turnip meant to turn me into a zombie.

I wouldn't think of myself as better or worse. I don't really continuously judge myself.

I'm brilliant at quizzes but last night I dreamt Larry Gogan called me to tell me I was through to the Just A Minute Quiz.

All I had to do was beat a score of five.

Normally in my dreams I'm capable of solving the most complex of mathematical conundrums and the most intense quadratic imponderables. I'm a genius.

However, Larry kept asking me questions about pop music, but not good pop music (stuff like Twisted Sister from the 1980s). Instead it was ****e from now. I got a score of 0.

So embarrassed I called in sick today.

I tend to be always a teenager in my dreams.

    Back with old girlfriends etc.

Dream about my Dad a lot also, he passed away about ten years ago.

I guess a psychologist might say I have difficulty accepting change.

I have some really good lucid dream interactions with folk the odd time were I can be awake in the dream, and they are the really good ones. But some of them are so violent from other dream people against me that I end up killing them if I have no way out and then wake up in a heavy sweat. But not always able to deal with it.

Unfortunately for me in one particular bad dream, I was in an area/large building with lots of people and I walked around a corner when 4 nasty looking guys grabbed me and brought me into a large room of which there was a table and a woman standing beside it. I was told to stay still and watch. Next of all this demon looking person had a knife pointing at me...

He said watch. They told this crying woman to put her hand on the table and were going to cut her fingers off so I made a run for the guy that was going to do this to her and I was held back by the rest of them. The person cut her fingers off and I went ballistic and the demon looking guy stood in front of me and laughed and then stuck his knife into my heart and I woke up in a bad state. I had no control of this dream at all and it was so real it took me a long time to get over it. Far too real for my liking.

One lucid dream I had a while back was of walking up a small rock cliff and very real, there was around 12 Buddhist monks all in the sea-edge looking into the water as if looking for something. Then this guy appeared and I asked him why are they in the sea looking down like that, and he said they are looking for truth, and then he showed me a rectangle-shaped wooden artefact with a circle in the middle of it with three large cables attached to the circle holding it in place, and said this is a clue.

I found out after a long online search that the wooden symbol that I saw was a symbol of truth and harmony, but it was one of the good ones because it was so real as if I was there in the dream in real-life.

Some dreams are so crazy It's hard to control them to be a better person in all dreams when you have no control over them.

I have such adventures in my dreams. They really are amazing. Sometimes celebrities are in them, sometimes friends or people from work. For some reason water is always involved. I'm either on a ship or by the sea. I used to get upset by them as I would wake up exhausted as they can be intense but it doesn't really bother me anymore.

I think sleeping me is pretty much the same as awake me.

Daydream me is so cool, though :p . I'm always on the Graham Norton show (either being interviewed or being told "you can walk!" after telling a hilarious story on the red chair) or I'm singing karaoke or doing stand-up or doing some Buffy-esque a$$ kicking and world saving :p . It passes the time when I'm washing the dishes!

I don't know why but I am often dreaming about being back at school being primary or secondary even though I am in college right now. A lot of the other dreams involve pokemon, final fantasy, metal gear, resident evil, metroid and other video games I like to play.

One dream had me captive by an invading force consisting of cyber men and daleks from doctor who. I kept zooming out between me and two other characters in the dream kinda like in GTA 5. One of them was a cop that was like playing an FPS.

Another dream of mine involves me walking around through the underbelly of either of either tanker or space ship. I was equipped with the gun from dead space and I mostly was fighting necromorphs from dead space and some resident evil areas. It has tight areas but it was going fairly well till I entered through doorway which lead to the physics class and I just carried on like it was normal class I had. No monster came through and I just sat down, it was a beautiful day out day.

Another one of my dreams was a nightmare which I knew a nightmare was going happen but couldn't wake myself before it happened. I had a feeling that something like a xenomorph from alien isolation was going to kill but that wasn't the creepiest part. when I looked ahead there was a zig zag roadway that looked similar to mine craft filled with family cars that are 2D in shape following the road way with very characters that looked like evil nintendo 2D shaped Mii's just completely staring at me moving along getting closer I knew they were trouble. However there was a gun like thing on the ground that I managed to fire but it turns out that it was toy gun that just made sound effects yet I was able to take out some of the Mii's. However it eventually stopped working and then one of the Mii's sneaked up to the right of me and then I woke up from me.

Also no none of these things ever happened to me in real life.

I actually have recurring nightmares about losing my temper. I have a ferocious temper (of the throwing things and saying things that can't be unsaid type), but I hardly ever lose it in real life anymore.

Also used to have a recurring one where I'd murdered someone (the actual murder was never in the dream) and I was trying to hide the body and stop people finding out. And one absolutely awful one (only a one-off, thank christ) where I was stabbing my little brother, urgh it was so vivid. There was some scenario where we testing out a virtual reality game and we were shooting at each other and stuff but it was fine because it was VR. And then I stabbed him, I could actually feel the knife going in, it was the strangest, most specific sensation and I've no idea what corner of my subconsciousness it came from because I've obviously never stabbed anyone, I don't even eat meat.

I was a teenager and he was about ten or eleven at the time, when I woke up I had to get up and go across the hall and look in on him to make sure he was ok.

Jesus no! The amount of sick shíte I get up to in my dreams is disgraceful.

I once dragged some chap through my letterbox (get your head around that part) and then punched the head off him.

I actually have recurring nightmares about losing my temper.... where I'd murdered someone... and I was trying to hide the body....

I used to have a recurring dream something like this. That I had a dead body buried in the back garden and lived in constant fear someone was going to find it. It's obviously strongly guilt related. My conclusion was that it was related to a miscarriage my wife had and I felt I was to blame somehow.

I was chased by a shark through the woods in a dream once. It was 'swimming' through the soil.

My recurring dreams are tame compared to this. One in which I am trying to climb to the top of a mountain and just as I reach the summit I fall down the mountain. This keeps repeating for what seems like hours. Another is where I am repeating my Leaving Cert and realise that I have no study done.

Better...don't know. More like terrified all the time. Twice this week, I have been told that I was screaming the house down.

Then I remembered one last night, my wife asked me for the time, I told her '1 all' and she asked again, I remember getting frustrated and saying again 'I SAID 1-1!' I can't remember anything else about the dream, must have been footie related. :p

It's difficult to know how to get rid of terrors like that. Especially if they are very regular. It makes you afraid to sleep almost. Or you keep waking up.

I find somethings like ASMR helps also trying to avoid upsets etc. If I get upset or anything it gets worse. And you end up scared to sleep or waking up and then the lack of sleep makes it worse!

I murdered three people one night in a dream, never murdered anyone in real life, yet.

I've been murdered three times in my dreams, but not in the same night thankfully ... Actually the third was only attempted murder I was nursed back to health by a lovely blonde.

I suppose I am a bit better in dreams, but it's easier to be better because the world is my own (subconscious) construction.

I am reminded of Shakespeare, who I believe wrote
    "In sleep a king
    But waking no such thing".

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,106 ✭✭✭catallus

    Hamlet:
O God, I could be bounded in a nutshell, and count myself a
king of infinite space—were it not that I have bad dreams.

    Guildenstern:
Which dreams indeed are ambition, for the very
substance of the ambitious is merely the shadow of a dream.
