Test cricket's most recent triple-centurion on a resurgent path since curbing his aggression at the start of his knocks. Fast developing as a more than effective off-spinner.

The man who once said coaches are only needed to take the team from the hotel to the ground is now one himself. With his 'goose' and 'verbal diarrhoea' comments about John Buchanan fresh in their memories, you can be sure fans of the former Aussie coach will be looking to get their own back the minute the portly leg-spinner is under duress in the IPL. As a skipper, his wealth of leadership experience with Hampshire and occasional stopgap stint at the helm of the Australian team will stand the tournament's only non-Indian captain in good stead.

As team manager, Rajput was part of the Indian think tank that triumphed in the inaugural World Twenty20 in September 2007. Having recently vacated his post with the national team, he is now looking to carry that success into the IPL.

Holder of limited overs cricket records by the busload, the former India skipper gets to try his hand at the helm again.

Coach: John Buchanan
Coached Australia's all-conquering team from 1999-2007, a period during which they won two World Cups and a record 16 consecutive Test matches. 'nuff said.

Captain: Sourav Ganguly
Having made a successful comeback to the Test team after a spell out in the cold, the IPL will now give the former Indian skipper an opportunity to prove that he is far from finished with the shorter versions of the game.
