As many of you know this is Donnybrook Garda Station

Right across the road is this building and it seems to be in the process of getting refurbished from what I saw (builders/trades men working away)

At a closer inspection I noticed the Garda crest frosted into the pane of glass at the main entrance

So does anybody know if this is going to be a Garda Station or some sort of Garda building?

That used to be the old AIB bank center, maybe they are going to use it temporarily if the old station is going to get a refurb, would make sense to have it directly across the street.

They must have changed their minds, that etching wasn't there this afternoon when I passed (driving, so no pic I'm afraid) ......

Were the roller shutters up and not down? as they seem to be closed in the evening time. I am not doubting you as I don't know what they are doing to the building but I noticed that etching in and around 3 weeks ago and today was the first day I was able to take a picture. Is it possible you just didn't see it?

Nope, I was looking at the doors. I'll be passing again tomorrow, I'll look even more carefully!

Well one station is not operational and not even a confirmed station as of yet. The other station has reduced opening hours according to here

Probably something to do with the filming of the new Love/Hate series?

Have you any reference material to back that statement up? as I am doubting that it is a tv set from what I saw

No I've no reference material to back up my observations of a camera crew. It is possibly the set for love hate as another poster said.

I was not trying to come off as offensive if I sounded like that, I was just curious if you had any reference material that you might of wanted to share. And yes it could possibly be the set for the love/hate series

Its for the filming of Love/Hate folks. They were filming in my nieces house yesterday. :) They even have marked mondeo,s and transits. Season 3 is going to be the best one yet!

Saw the movie trucks while passing through a couple of weeks ago. Anyway, Donnybrook is one of the stations that now closes overnight. The all wise management are not going to spend money on a new station if they don't open it 24hrs.

my initial thought was that it wouldn't be another station, but a public office like on o'connell st, would make sense to put them into districts that had stations closed, much lower running costs and still local access for people to get forms and stuff done...

It would make great sense for that kind of thing, it was definitely just a tv set though ;)
