breville kettle illumination not working!

i bought a breville kettle today in argos. its one of those illuminated jobs- blue on standby, red when boiling. now the thing is, i used it twice to boil water to clean it as the manual says, and then the third time, the blue light doesnt work. it came back about an hour later, so i tried to boil water again, and as soon as it was done boiling it didnt go back to blue. fair annoying at this stage and im sorry argos is closed now because i'll be bringing it straight back in the morning! only thing is, i liked this kettle and it matched the coffee maker (perfectionist alert! lol ;))

anyway, anyone else experienced this with breville kettles or did i just get a bum one? i searched the net and they have a pretty reliable rep!

well i got a refund on one about 2 weeks ago from argos after I had two of them develop the same fault.

basicallly the thermostat wouldnt kick in and so the kettle wouldnt stop boiling unless you switched it off manually. obviously about 3 or 4 big safety hazards there.

    damn! :(

i was almost hoping my post wouldn't get replied to indicating my problem was a one-off, but that news isn't encouraging in the slightest! :(

thanks miju for replying anyway, much appreciated... :)

one spanky new kettle later and we're back in business, i use the word new because my OH noticed that the scres on the bottom of the kettle i got yesterday had the heads worn, and today when i unpacked the new kettle it had all plastic packaging on it, so apparently what had happened was a previous customer had bought the kettle, tried to fix the problem, and when they couldn't they brought it back to argos.

this is what it SHOULD look like in standby anyway-
