But you do know FroYo (Android 2.2) is being released next month? It has a lot of great changes (Rumoured at the moment but they are being discussed on Google code aswell.Got myself an Xperia X10 with 1.6 (Donut), I thought that the 2.1 upgrade would be pretty soon (like June) but now I hear it won't be until September. All will be forgiven though, if 2.1 brings multi-touch to Sony Ericsson's flagship device (it seems 50/50 right now and will be a talking point until a definite answer comes to light).- JIT compiler

- OpenGL ES 2.0 enhancements
- Flash 10.1 support which has already been confirmed (flash 10.1 is coming in first half of this year)
- Fixed problem with “crazy screen” / Resolution of cross multitouch
- Activation of Color Trackball
- Enable FM radio
JIT Compiler will speed up the OS A LOT. Free Additional ram won't mean much for performance on the Xperia since it has a lot of ram to begin with.
OpenGL ES 2.0 will mean much better 3D quality/performance in games
Flash 10.1 is self explanatory really
You would be better off rooting the phone as you're going to be missing out on a lot of great features by the time Sony release 2.1 (Nevermind 2.2 or the inevitable 2.3 that will be released september at a guess)0
