I found Donegal so disappointing! I've been going a lot lately.

I used to expect: Comely maidens and sturdy steeds dancing on the crossroads, poets, farmers, donkeys, friendly smiley people everywhere

I now expect: Sturdy maidens, teenagers in tracksuits drunk in village centres, teenagers driving around dangerously, donut marks on all crossroads, wolf whistling, most pubs to be as sleazy as copperface jacks, welfare dependence culture

I'd say the majority are grand, this is just the most visible minority I hope.

    A "Central Grill"
A Field Day with a Q of about 20 kids with their euros ready for a go in a trailer on back of tractor around the field! Also a large crowd gathered bettin on a pig race
Keys left permanently in the front door
And why is there always a house with an old caravan, half a dozen wrecked 4x4s, tyres, pieces of metal, empty crates and various other pieces of junk lying in the garden??

Love it though, is nice to see the simple life still exists somewhere..

    What are you talking about.

Ahascragh is a village in east Galway... I say village but mean a bend in the road with at least two pubs that look pretty delapidated and closed but are actually fully functional. It was made "famous" by a tv show called Don't Feed The Gondolas, where a spoof character, Monica Looley, would make a prank phonecall to someone, somewhere. Great old laugh.

Thats why your government should get post codes, down south is like the only country not with them, even the poor ones have post codes! Come on now!
    owenc wrote: »
oh sorry.. i forgot they use kms, ps. miles are soo much better america uses them.

You'll have to get used to no post codes and kilometres when NI becomes part of the Republic in 30 or 40 years!
