So, At the moment, I'm signed up to Eircom, and I have the 8MB broadband deal.
But I NEVER get fast Internet! Me and my friend are downloading a game off Steam at the moment. He lives in Bree and he has a download speed of 212kbps with a 3MB broadband (Eircom As well). I'm only getting a download speed of 108kbps with my 8MB Broadband, And I'm in the middle of Enniscorthy!
I have rang Eircom sooo many time, and they do absolutely NOTHING! Whoever I get on the phone, they check my Internet Connection and they say its perfect!
The modem is in the next room! Seemingly this broadband deal we have is *Next Gen* and has *No Congestion*. There is 3 laptops in the Household. Mine, My sister's and my parents. My parents occasionally use their's but not the whole time. My Sister uses hers a good bit, But there should be No Congestion, so she shouldn't be a problem. With 8MB Broadband, I should be getting a fair amount more than 100kbps, at least 300-400. I'm obviously not getting what i'm paying for and theres no point giving Eircom a call because I will get the same answer i always get.
Does anyone know of a solution to this, or maybe anyone who works with Eircom know of anything?
Please give as much info as possible.
    Thanks!

For a default Eircom modem, yes, they're normally there.

There's no congestion on the line coming in but multiple people using it will congest it internally. Is she is using it for steaming video or other heavy downloading, then it'd be affecting you. Have you tried with no one else using the internet?

1meg down and 128kb up if I'm reading right

You look like you are still connecting to vodafone.

    can you go to http://www.whatismyip.com

    Using this site
    http://whatismyipaddress.com/ip/109.78.132.85

it shows you using a vodafone ip

    eircom username should be eircom@eircom.net
    password = broadband1

you need to set the correct username and password on router.
You might want to call eircom and get them to walk you through it.

You're on a 1meg package, with 128k up. Your line would be capable of nearly 20megs on an ADSL2 provider though.

You need to change your username and the password in your router settings.

Eircom cannot do that for you.

Also if you are sharing a wireless connection internally then that will slow your speed. Just like several peopel turning on the tap at the same time.
