Overtaking query: opinions of gardai/solicitors?

    This is from the motors forum. It got silly pretty quickly, but there is a genuine question here. I figured those who hang around the District Courts might have an opinion on it.

    There offences are for:

    1) overtake causing inconvenience
    2) dangerous overtake

    or an attempt to do either, so it depends on the context.

    Rules of the Road give the few times when you can cross a continuous white line, but there's no specific offence AFAIK

    It all boils down to opinion really.....
