This thread is a complete non-starter and you are milking it to the last.

Even the threads you start in the CT forum have more substance than this.
I'm happy to look beyond your ad-hom but I am interested on your opinion the morality of starving an entire population in the hope that they will rise up against their government to prevent the development of a nuclear weapons programme that hasn't even been shown to exist.

Any more info on this unnamed 'official'?
No, as they are proposing a war crime it is unsurprising that he/she has hidden behind anonymity,

However, what they've called for is in line with with their more senior Likud counterparts, only they've gone a step further and spelled out the reality of further sanctions.

    Ehud Barak
"We have to accelerate the pace of imposing sanctions and make them crippling and consequential to such an extent that the leadership ... will be compelled to sit down and ... ask themselves 'are we ready to pay the price of isolation from most, if not all, of the world?'"

    Avigdor Lieberman

"If, after the IAEA report comes out, the United States does not lead an initiative of crippling sanctions against Iran, this will mean that the United States and the West have accepted a nuclear Iran," the paper quoted him as saying on Monday.

While the above is true, if you wish to take it into account you must also consider likely opponents. German only possible opponent in the medium term is Russia (though still very unlikely). Israels likely opponents are the same as always, Egypt,Jordan,Syria etc.

Germany fairs far worse against Russia alone, than Israel would against even 3 Arab states combined.

I'm not debating the fact that Israel is a regional power. I am trying to show that Israel is nowhere near the 4th greatest, or even the tenth greatest military power.

Fair enough, but that's irrelevant to the situations one most commonly refers to Israel in, i.e the middle east, where it has the major advantage militarily (even when not factoring in likely US intervention should anything ever go severely wrong for them).

In such a situation it's incorrect to refer to Israel as being at any sort of disadvantage in terms of security.

Israel have nukes, so that would push them up a fair few places in the Military rank places.
