Lleyns were all born in the first two weeks march and the vendeens started the 20 march. most of them were born in a fortnight too,
Really like the Lleyns here, but it has been an unreal year for grass, right from the day they were born,

are the Lleyns all purebred ? think you bought a ram in Roscrea last year

have some pure Lleyns here & hope to pick up a few more this year

thinking of X with a texel for replacements

as already stated , great healthy looking stock & pasture, think you mentioned somewhere you do very little reseeding

Over 20yrs since any of it was reseeded, I don't think I need to at present stocking rate and the fact that I don't take out land for silage....... had to take land out for silage this year, couldn't control it, but I set it, don't want to have to feed silage.
Those lambs aren't pure, their mothers would be about 75% texel 25% Lleyn, That's what the ewes with the vendeen lambs are too.
Yea I bought a nice ram in Roscrea

Some of my Lleyn ewes and lambs that I moved to new grazing last night. Field was mowed last week. Lambs seem to be doing well even though the field they were in got away on them.

Full days work done on saturday with the sheep. Gathered the mountain for the dry ewes and footbathed all ewes and lambs, dosed all lambs with a mineral drench as i noticed a few of the suffolks with scaly ears. Drafted and marked all ewe and wether lambs and pulled off ewe lambs for replacements and clipped them. Weighed a few lambs for the mart today, happy how theyre weighing. Got everything dipped including the dogs. Have finished the handling yard so managed to do everything on my own without as much as a curse out of me, compared to years ago when dipping with the father and it took a full day alone with four of us and fff's and curses all over the shop. Will stick up a few more pics as it was a grand day to be working and had the phone out.

    replacements for keeping

dogs - this is the wee bitch who lost her mother at five weeks old, shes turning out to be a cracker. And the sire!

Few char X dorset lambs for killing, bit of an experiment and they've worked out well.

We're in high molybdenum area area, so would always be conscious of copper deficiency, but every blood test I did proved negative and as you know have been concerned about lamb thrive here.
but against the advise, I gave them copper boluses at 10 weeks with their usual cobalt etc and I don't think I've ever had as good looking lambs. their wool and condition is unreal, so hopefully I've cracked the lamb thrive one.
Cattle always suffered from copper deficiency on the farm here

I would be very hesitant about giving copper boluses to sheep, if things started to go wrong you'd have to keep em dosed with zinc till the boluses were gone. We've dosed with bluestone here(usually mixed with cobalt).
And the Uniblock sheep mineral block has a bit of copper in them too
