Bought 3 items off Micks garage recently and now they are gone up in price by well over 20 percent. EGR valve from 110 to 150, front wipers from 31 to 40 back wiper from 7.50 to 9.90.

I don't know why people thinks micks garage are cheap, yes they are handy with stuff being delivered, they are buying from a lot of the same wholesalers that your local motor factors are buying from i.e j&s, qualvicom, serfac, Somora etc .

Mister Auto are better value than Mick's Garage. Delivery takes longer though. Prices are higher than a month ago on both sites.

Plus motor factors are the last of the real local family run businesses. I'd rather keep the money in my local area tbh

Not really, if you knew me in real life I'm not like that at all. Somebody who works in that industry at a very high level for decades whom is close to me told me that they aren't doing as well as it appears. No more, no less.

I'm saying no more after that, this is bargain alerts after all.

The golden rule is shop around.
    I use
    Local Motorfactors
    Micks garage
    Mister Auto
    E-Bay

Didn't mean you, whoever it is that told you.

To rapid an expansion only thing that'll hurt micksgarage.

That or the car makers trying to put a stop to third parties making parts for cars. (Which they are trying)

I've yet to find a motor factors which has cheaper prices than MicksGarage and as much choice of brands as MicksGarage. I only use MicksGarage and collect from them these days.

A Luk flywheel for my car is around €450 on Mick's.

I can get the same flywheel and also clutch kit for around €390 on eBay.

    It pays to shop around.

The great thing about Micks for me is I get my items at 6am the next morning!
My local MF will sometimes match online price!

It's the exact same story for me with the flywheel and clutch but I wouldn't risk buying something like that on eBay. Much safer to buy it from MicksGarage which is just down the road!

    What risk do you mean?
I'd have no problem ordering something off eBay and especially if it's €150-€200 cheaper.

Returning if the part doesn't suit or if you have problems.

The only problem i have ever had like that was,and it wasn't eBay, when Mister Auto sent me Febi Bilstein control arm set instead of the Lemforder ones I ordered.
They took them back and refunded me fully.

I would be very careful buying clutches and especially timing belt kits online especially off ebay! There are lots of counterfits around !

Paypal covers you for counterfeit goods.

So they cover you if the timing belt snaps, or of the tensioner fails? I've heard of lots of fake contitech kits off ebay failing and causing engine damage

Use reputable dealers and check your goods before using them.
Btw Ive heard of a genuine belt snapping.

All I'm saying is that by using a local motor factor you have the piece of mind that there is some come back in case of a faulty part. I would say a good few factors around the country will match or even beat most online prices if you ask them nicely ðŸ˜႒. As mentioned previously, Mick's garage buy off the same suppliers as most of the factors. The factors just have to be careful with pricing because they have to keep both the trade and retail customers happy. Mick's garage just gives trade to everyone !

....but not for the ten hours labour you've spent fitting the dodgy flywheel

Why would you spend 10 hours fitting a counterfeit part that you should check before fitting?
If you are that green leave it to someone who knows better!

In fairness it's not always that easy to spot counterfeit parts. And if the customer arrives to mechanic with the parts he hasn't a clue where it's from. I've not seen a counterfeit flywheel but I would say they look the same on the outside, on the inside could be a different story.

You do know it's possible to get counterfeit parts from Micks Garage and Mister Auto?

Also in my experience,i have had tougher times getting refunds for faulty goods off bricks and mortar shops.

With jobs requiring so much labour I rely on my mechanic to order the parts... Should anything goes wrong, I need to complain only to one part and no blame throwing...
