Roscommon isn't on the road to Sligo though. If I was going to Roscommon I'd go via Athlone, so it represents a fair detour.

Indeed it's a big detour. The only thing possibly preventing me from winning the race is the distance between my home and the charger though. It's 170km. Which I can do at 120km/h GPS speed no bother. As long as it's not in winter, it's not raining and not windy :p

Picking up the fancy wine in Supervalue Lucan this evening and parked beside a 100D. Herself had not seen one up close before and she was impressed. Maybe that's what I should be concentrating on :)

We're nearing the end of the year and total Ioniq EV production for export (i.e. everyone except South Korea) averages 794 units per month including dealer demos / showcars etc.

    Total export production 8,738
Total domestic production 7,098 (domestic orders were prioritised)

Total Ioniq EV production this year (to end Nov.): 15,836

UK waiting list is now 12-18 months

For scale Hyundai has produced ~10% of the number of EVs this year as Tesla.
Given the difference in average battery capacity per vehicle, if Hyundai had used the same amount of kWh as Tesla to produce 30kWh packs for Ioniqs they could have built ~320,000 Ioniqs this year.

    Manufacturer|kWh available for vehicle production
    Hyundai|475,080
    Tesla|9,570,000

And this is before the gigafactory pitches in with any real volume.

If Tesla get Model 3 right, they are going to do serious damage

If they can produce 20-40k a month as promised, they could be a big auto company soon.

They have all of 2018 and 2019 to themselves by the looks of it, thats alot of time

Big auto **** could have really ****ed up if Model 3 catches on

    I really hope it does

Long range one has fantastic specs

500km range, 0-60 4.8 secs, 8 year warranty on drivetrain

Thats the spec sheet for Model S a few years ago

What? It's perfectly parked. Between the lines, straight and well within the parking bay. Not like the Ioniq abandoned beside it. :P

It was the wife parking, right Unkel? ;)

    LOL, lads :D

No, can't blame the wife this time, it was me. Wasn't going to park there at all, was driving up to the charger. To find it occupied. Turned around and was driving away when I spotted the Tesla at the last moment. No other cars parked anywhere near, so I stopped and took the picture

I was within the lines though. But not as neatly parked as the huge Model S, a good 2 sizes bigger than Ioniq, I grant you :D

That would be the one, I would guess they will start to stick the 39kW battery into the Ioniq as well....

No point having 3 different batteries across the range

    It's an announcement, don't get too excited, thierry14 :p

Hyundai can't even make 28kWh Ioniqs in any numbers anywhere near current demand. Just talking to a Hyundai dealer an hour ago and he is very frustrated they can't get more cars as there is huge demand (even in Ireland) for Ioniq EVs. He says nobody wants the hybrid / PHEV, everyone wants electric

There is not a hope Hyundai will start delivering budget 40kWh cars this year (or 28kWh cars for that matter)

Nissan have rich pickings even though Leaf 2 is pretty disappointing...
