GSM Line faults and other questions on SW 1070

I've been getting reoccuring GSM line faults on or SW 1070 over the past few days. I've gone into the Engineer menu and turned off signal monitoring and just today noticed it says the signal is "low - 20%". Never really had any issues over the past 6 years or so.

It's a Vodafone sim and I'm not using the HKC app or anything, just SMS commands.

I know I'm overdue a SW update but I've never had any issues with it till now. My mate in Vodafone says the area I live in hasn't had any work going on and also he reckons changing the sim won't do much, he reckons is the module in the Alarm.

Is this something a SW update might fix and if not and I do need a new GSM module would one of the newer combined GSM/Wifi ones allow me to use both routes myself without needing to subscribe to the app i.e.

I've ended up getting an answer to this so will post it here if anyone else has the same issue. Mate in Voda did some further investigation and turns out that there's issues over the past few days in my area with 2G/3G network which has resulted in signal drops that they are trying to fix. Our phones aren't going because 4G is still working ok.

Signal currently showing "high - 80%" so good to know it's not the module or sim.

There has been a few incidents with the different networks over the last few weeks.

With the GSM-Q as you have, you are dependent on the one network, these GSMs are obsolete now but will still function with a 2g sim card as you are aware.

Do the newer dual GSM/Wi-fi allow you to use them in the same manner as I'd being using the old one? i.e. not needing to use the HKC subscribtion service? If so, how does the wi-fi element work, is it sending push notification to a specified email or something?

No, the GSM/Wifi is a subscription service and has an imbedded sim card.
