    I hate cake.

It's a waste of sugar, eggs and flour.

Sure with those same ingredients you could have yourself a fried egg sandwich and a cup of tea.

Not without a teabag and a drop of milk, you couldn't.

There are far too many serious threads. We need more arguments about cake.

Ah here, the best kind of cake is chocolate cake. All other kinds of cake are in the ha'penny place.

Except cream cakes maybe. Or a really nice carrot cake (5 of them per day). And an apple tart - can we talk about tarts? (Not that kind!)

Now it took me till my 32 year as a young man to realise that a tart wasn't a Brasser, I have me Ma and wife to blame for that, but anyway, a tart with blackcurrants and redcurrants on top is a fantastic tart, but baked at 170 for 45 mins

Two possibilities spring to mind from that post:

    A) Your mother & wife are one and the same person
    B) Your mother & wife is/are brasser(s)

I suppose as long as you're happy...?

Lucky sod! Pavlova is meringue on the bottom, covered with cream and a bit of fruit to make it healthy. You used get it a lot at weddings, or if someone was having the stations.

Will I explain what the stations are? :D

The stations is mass! Every house in the village would take it in turn to have the priest come out and say mass there. And all the neighbours would come. Which meant the whole place would have to be painted and polished and there would be enough sandwiches to feed an army.

And the cake! The variety and amount of cake on offer would blow your mind! Well worth sitting through mass for. :D

But as me aul Da says, you can't say farmyard because there's a Cock in it

What's it called when you take a blowtorch to the cream on the top of the thing?

    Flambé, you say? OK...

Mister Zippo has retired, the kitchen was rewired
We use combo microwaves these days

    Thunder's ftw - was Bhopal a sin?
    Now we're cooking with gas
    Battery hens laying free-range eggs
    Drumsticks, thighs, only two legs

Yeah, but, but cake, in that poisoned lake
Layered with sponge and cream - dreamy

Speaking of cake - ever been out on gur?

Flambe is when there is alcohol on it first. A blowtorch caramalises creme brulee and what not making it crispy.
