Agreed - Cooper aside , the Studio guys were fairly reasonable.. But the main commentator was utterly appalling , I just couldn't hack him at all , the guy they used for the "lesser" games was infinitely superior.

Was that Dave McIntyre? I find him quite good. He normally does the rugby commentary on NewsTalk.

2018.....TV3. I suppose it will be to much of an ask that they transmit in HD on Saorview.

It was good alright, to be honest that natural abrasiveness was evident in his play and goes a long way as to why he was also such a good leader.

I actually enjoyed TV3's coverage of the RWC. Except for Matt Cooper. He seemed to think it was all about him, he wasn't prepared and didn't have a clue what the pundits were talking about.

The other host (dark haired guy) was good. He asked good questions, followed up and encouraged the experts to talk. If he is the main man in TV3's coverage then I think they will be ok.

I will miss the RTE promo videos though. They are very good.

Willem Nel ruled out for Scotland. Would see that as a bit of blow up front for them. Although Fagerson seems highly thought off.

Read that earlier. He's quite green and no where near the level of scrummaging (though I think Nel is a little over rated all the same).

Still, our scrum should really look to turn them over now and it's something we can use throughout their half of the pitch to score points.

I see English clubs want the rest weeks in the 6 nations to be cut so the competition takes 5 weeks instead of 7.

Not sure what I think about it. Because our players are employed by the union our clubs wouldn't benefit from it as players wouldn't be allowed to play either way.

Good luck to them. That won't be happening. Players need the break. There might be merit in reducing it down to 6 weeks. Maybe.

As pointed out to me on twitter, the 5 games in 5 weeks is probably a bargaining position to start on. 5 games in 6 weeks seems like a reasonable compromise.

It depends on how much people actually want a global calendar. If they really want it there'll have to be compromise on both sides.

Yea but the argument is that squads can be rotated like world cup pools.

Do you not remember the recent changes to the Heineken /Champions cup?
The premiership also demanded that along with the French.
The poms get what the poms want or they throw their toys out of the pram.

English and the French are in the majority in the Champions Cup. They are not in the 6 Nations. This time would need support from their own unions as well as some of the Celtic unions, which is a different ball game. Not even clear that Ian Ritchie supports them yet.

How much those unions are willing to support a change to the 6 Nations comes down to politics.

That's a recipe for injuries tbh. Are they sure that's what they want?
