Is there any value in an old farm shed?
I have one that needs to be removed, galvanised 5 span shed with two lean-tos. Two small doors plus a large rolling entrance gate.

The shed is standing and would need to be removed by whoever would take / buy it.

Hard enough done to move it. You could imagine yourself taking into dismantling it.

Could you fence it off on it's own site and rent it out as a warehouse?

Unfortunately the shed needs to be removed so either sell / give away / pay someone to remove are the only options.
Naturally sell would be my preference!

Where are you located? It would have to be seen to identifyif it has sale value, or if it is just a case of someone dismantling it and taking it awayfor nothing.
It would have to be in very bad condition for you to pay for someoneto take it down and dispose of it.

Its not far from Wicklow Town, its in reasonable shape but could definitely do with a coat of paint.

I bought a 3 bay hayshed and lean to a few years back. gave €2200 delivered to the yard here.

Its touch and go if it was worth it but I bought it to match another shed at the time.

What nonsense! I've no idea what you're on about but I can absolutely confirm that the shed is not on any property website.....

OP the problem with second hand sheds is that by the time you include cost of dismantling and reerecting the cost is prohibitive. A shed would want to be in good condition before lads would even consider taking down for free. You also have the public liability issue for both the owner and the dismantler.

As well no matter how good a shed is you will have to buy some parts when it goes back up and screw holes will not realign. As well 2nd hand sheds may have to be adapted for new sit and person interested may not require all the shed if it is a large shed. Yours is a huge shed 5 span with a lean two either side. It is more than likly more suitable to a shed erectors who will split the shed into smaller units rather than a farmer.

Such a shed is really only suitable to a farmer storing hay and straw. It is unlikly that any farmers would use such a shed for livestock as more than likly the sheating would rot very fast.

10+ years ago lads would load such sheds on to tractor trailers and haul them a long distance but now any farmers interested would have to be with 30-50 miles of the shed. If you have to haul it a distance then haulage costs will enter the equation. While on paper the shed may be worth a lot of money there is only limite takers. You could always chance it on DD and see if there are any takers at a price

OMG I would love a shed like that here

THe comfort alone of having a covered in area that size would be amazing

Only hope of selling it would be to dismantle it first, if you do it cheaply the biggest most awkward part would be getting the sheeting off.

I say someone would buy it for a nominal price and take it down

They'd expect to get it for nothing though and then dismantle it without proper insurance. You'd chance taking down your own shed without insurance but letting in anyone else to do it would be dodgey. If they have the proper insurance it would be a costly job.

    My mistake, what a coincidence.

Indeed, the ad that you originally posted was for a shed which was available to rent.
My dilemma is I have a shed which needs to be sold or otherwise gotten rid of.

Sounds like quite a dilemma. If it's in good order would you not consider using it and working around it?

Unfortunately not. Site it sits on has been sold but the structure was retained......long story but it has to go.

That's a cheap price to stand that shed. The rate for erectors is usually 20 per cent of the value of the building. 5K would be on the low side.
