    You'd also be missing RTE1 +1, & that be3 or whatever it's called?

The signal for that multiplex must be too weak. Could be something simple like maybe you upset the aerial connection some way when you swapped over, or maybe it was always weak, & the box just coped better.

Where is the aerial located, roof/attic?

Could be a bad connection somewhere, behind the TV or anywhere else to and including the aerial. Could be a misaligned or badly located aerial that requires adjustment to optimise the signal for both frequencies (muxes). Might be a damaged cable or a cable with water ingress. Difficult to say what specifically, if you can't resolve the issue get a professional in to have a look.

    Whereabouts are you?

You may have a choice of masts at which to point the antenna..

Signal for the frequency carrying the missing channels could be borderline with the aerial in the attic, the tuner in the box may be better able to handle a weaker signal than the TV's tuner as mentioned earlier.

What is the recommended transmitter for your parent's house and how far away is it, use the Saorview coverage checker for the information - https://www.saorview.ie/en/get/coverage

What type of aerial are you using in the attic, could it be an old VHF from analogue TV days?

I'd nearly suggest (not wishing to contradict The Cush) that any ould antenna would probably pull in a usable signal from a 160kw transmitter at 20 miles with no major obstacles in the way...

I'd be inclined to check your connections...coax joiners are notorious for making bad connections and it's easy to let a strand from the outer braid short everything out...

If you had everything working the other day, then I'd look at anything you've moved or changed....
