Was in there last week, and there was no indication that it could be closing

Maybe Mags has turned her aim from the council to Facebook

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,903 ✭✭✭zulutango

She's closing and setting up a new venture. Great loss to the city, imo. Boojum still haven't got anywhere near the Badass standard.

So the Burritos wars are finally over.

Any idea what that is? Disappointed to hear she's closing, Boojum must have impacted on her business more than we thought it would..

Great so back to cooking own burrito. Boojum are no use tbf cold meat badly shaped and not very tasty.

Its a shame Mags had a great product and a way about her that reminded me of Ruth in the old Wild Onion. Any idea when she is closing

Wow lot of hate for Boojum, I've never had a bad meal there and neither have any of my friends.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 523 ✭✭✭Sal Butamol

    Entirely predictable.

Anyone with an ounce of business sense could see her days were numbered once a proper run burrito place opened.

You can't run a business like a hobby and treat your customers and potential customers like she did and get away with it.

No hate from me. Boojum have their place but the quality of food is ordinary imo. I believe Mags is embarking on a bigger venture but it's not for me to say what it is.

Has anyone been up by Badass recently, is the shop gone already?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,015 ✭✭✭✭Mc Love

According to work colleagues, it was open serving food yesterday

I just ate at Boojum yesterday with a friend, food was lovely. Nothing cold or otherwise wrong with it.

    Another blow to the City.

Perhaps another coffee shop or e-cig place will open there.

There's always hate for anywhere that is deemed to be a big company. I've had nothing but nice meals in Boojum too

I'm sure she will do great - she has a loyal following in the city who will support her. :) Hopefully it is something that adds to the City.

Last Burrito I got from Badass was actually a bit disappointing, but still it will be a loss. It was a superior product to Boojum but fell down on facilities. Plus when you aren't massaging the egos of social media sheep then it was always going to be difficult to stay in business.

Tried Boojum recently. Friendly service and the food was quite filling. Thought it was pretty decent all in.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,747 ✭✭✭Swiper the fox

I had a good burrito from Boojum a little while ago, not quite up to the standard that I have come to expect from Badass but quite decent and the chap behind the counter rolled it on his first attempt.

Are badass really closing though? They have a post on Facebook saying closed until 6th September for holidays. Hopefully this means they're staying open.

She's closing the same way she opened. Whenever. Nobody knows.

Mystery how it didn't work as a business

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 926 ✭✭✭OfTheMarsWongs

The premises that Badass was/is in was open today. Was across the road so couldn’t tell if it was Badass or another crowd open in the spot.

    Chairs and tables outside.

She's still open so I can understand why you would think it might be someone else because of the hobbyness of it

I was in last week (got a burrito 10x better than anything I've had from boojum), and she told me that she's closing in a few weeks - no definitive date. She also admitted that she was closing due to the competition from boojum. Will be sad to see her go

Not to mention when you have a serious attitude problem, and don't actually appear to like customers.
Went in there once. Never again.

Ah Mags will always continue to divide opinion! Very sad to see Badass closing. Is a real loss to my stomach and the city as a whole. I was a big Mags fan #Burritowars

Customer service is a huge part of every business too. Or at least it should be. If I frequent a business where someone treats me as though I'm an annoyance to them by being there, then why would I go back?

Costs nothing to be nice. If you rely on customers in order to keep your business going, then why would you be rude to them? Common sense.

She was always entitled to run her business as she wished, regardless of what people thought.

However, having an outfit like Boojum enter the market in Limerick was always going to put up a serious challenge. Regardless of the reason that she is apparently closing, we are lucky to still have great burritos in Limerick. Boojum will be delighted I’m sure.

Anyways, haven’t we all moved on to the donut wars by now?:D:pac:

Boojum are far from great in my opinion. Adequate is the word I'd use to describe them. I couldn't care less how friendly the staff are, when their product is substandard. When I'm sitting down eating my burrito, I'm not thinking of how nice the staff are, but how ****ty my burrito is! :pac:

Hardly say their burrito are ****ty. I've not had one bad experience food related since I've frequented the place and they have always filled up the burrito.

Very friendly staff in Boojum alright. Their burritos are fairly average, alas.

Have no foot in either camp but both myself and my missis have been to both establishments and were left underwhelmed by Boojum, so much so we both said we wouldn't be back. Portion was big to be fair, just a bit... bland

I had Boojums, so I'm back!
Hilariously, I got a warning from one of your mods about saying "shut up" to nobody or everybody in general. Nice preschool you guys are runnin'.

Anyways, Mags said she's doing some other business idea and closing shop (I guess the crybabies get their safe space). So, I figured I better get used to Boojums and strolled down there. There were no lines, of course (I thought it was quaint watching irish people line up like a new cathedral was built).

The burrito I got from the cheerful, young lady was gigantic; way bigger than what Mags can afford to give out. However, the contents were unceremoniously piled in the middle. For instance, I asked for guacamole and it was ice cream-scooped into the center of the pile, the girl folded it up and there it stayed. So, mid-burrito, I had a solid mouthful of guacamole and no other ingredient (well, except tortilla, I guess).

The ingredients (individually) tasted normal to my refined, mexican pallete... with a couple exceptions:
    1. The chicken was pink in the center. Reeeeeal safe.
    2. A slight percentage of the pinto beans were hard (undercooked). Reeeeal gross.

I guess I have no choice for burritos, at this point. Boojums it is!

The limerick burrito wars are over, indeed. I hope this post wasn't "needlessly aggressive", mods. HahhAhh. My time here on the boards.ie... concluded.

Disagree... The chicken has a pink tint to it. I'm sure it's cooked fine but doesn't LOOK that way....

Badass is now on Uber Eats, handy, but not if, like me, you enjoy the chats with Mags

Your first post in three years is to also make a claim that the chicken in Boojum is pink and to advertise the place is on Uber eats. Interesting.

Condescending? From the poster who replied 'Hi Mags'

Is it possible that this poster has an alternative view to yours and thinks that one product is vastly superior to the other, I agree by the way.
Hilarious how anything vaguely pro Badass or negative towards Boojum is shouted down here. :p
