    The poor people?

Margaret Cash is in 50,000 a year and is in social housing.

    Do you call 50,000 poor?

No problem with genuine people who aren’t layabout spongers.

    The rest, I do.

The obsession extreme-right-wingers have with that woman is fucking bizarre.

There's a segment of our population that will get free healthcare and free/heavily subsidised housing throughout their lives.

And they will never contribute a cent to the Exchequer, except through VAT.

The middle class in Ireland carry most of the country.

Pensioners, the disabled, the chronically ill yes get free healthcare and social housing.

The middle class are doing quite well in this country, if they feel peeved off they need to have a look up the ladder rather than down the ladder.

€188 a week isn’t enough to buy them food for the week??

What a heartless post. Those people are relying on charities to feed them for their next meal. If the charities did not exist, they will die. I suggest you trot the streets of our capital city tonight to see the mobile soup kitchens feeding the starving.

So, you’re ok with supporting people who will never take responsibility for themselves. eg Margaret Cash or that woman at the weekend who is sharing a bedroom with 5 children, 2 of them born in the last 18 months, while living in the same situation.

A person does not get 188 without an address, you knew that already. If they do have an address and get that amount, they have to pay "in hand" over the HAP amount awarded to the landlord to keep a roof over their head, they cannot afford to feed themselves as the wealthy landlords are extracting every last cent out of them.

Leeches. Exploiting a basic need and taking advantage of a shortage to fleece people and line their own pockets.

I’ve done that very thing- made food parcels and helped distribute them.

No one I saw was starving.

    If I didn’t eat I would die. Doesn’t mean I’m starving.

Good God no. Mainly because it would involve associating with the sort of people who protest. They are dispicable. The plague of our time. The irony is that protesters see themselves and protesting as part of the solution. Instead, both are part of the problem. A protest is just a group of people having a mass moan instead of doing something positive to improve matters. Down with that sort of thing. Is there a lower life in Ireland today than the protester ?

Another that has an obsession with that woman. Where is your obsession with REIT's and wealthy individuals exploiting the housing needs of a few million people?

Landlords aren't the problem - they're only making hay while the sun shines. Margaret Cash also isn't the problem - she's merely a Trojan horse used by the likes of you for the sole purpose of shutting down discussion.

You do realise that this country has seen protests which actually succeed in changing government policy, right? What was that about protesters just having a moan?

They're choosing to exploit people even though they know that it's screwing peoples' quality of life.

    Exploit? It’s supply and demand.

I have. They were akin to a mass shooting in the foot.
    It was.

    Exploit? It’s supply and demand.

And that shouldn't apply to basic needs like housing. It's morally wrong and it should be changed by government policy - hence the protest.

Just because something is fact, doesn't make it right. These people choose to charge as much as they can get away with, rather than considering how hard that's making life for people who are having to blow massive proportions of their income on rent. That's a choice to do something scummy. They could choose to be decent about it if they gave a sh!t about anyone other than themselves.

Nice snip, why didn't you show the whole sentence???
Your entitlement to social welfare payments is not affected by the fact of being homeless but you may have difficulty getting your payments, mainly because of not having a permanent address.

I agree to an extent, but again its the government presiding over this disgrace, housing is far too important to just adopt this 'survival' of the fittest approach etc! Let these warren buffet wannabes actually create wealth from something other than the most basic human need, do something that actually requires smarts, rather than simply being in the fortunate position of being able to gouge others, often through inheritances or right place , right time etc!

Many low to middle income earners are totally f**cked, because of government desire of increasing prices, of course they have to be seen to be doing something though! LOL! They'll give you back less than a euro a week in USC cut on 30,000 and at the same time, rents and property prices continue to rise, eroding living standards, but yeah, if youre a worker, vote FG! banana republic

Another one in their ivory tower who believes high rents and high house prices are good....for themselves.

Typical I'm alright Jack brigage, the laughable thing is, that these posters , if they wanted to live in Dublin now, likely wouldnt have a hope of buying their properties now or would be sharing in some kip! laughable!

You stated “A person does not get 188 without an address”, the sentence I posted stated that you can. It states that it may be more difficult, but doesn’t say you cannot get it. You were still wrong.

They don't get 188 without an address. Their only hope is the hostel if the social accepts that address, many don't accept.
But you knew all this with your empathy for the poor in our society!

So banks are exploiting us too with mortgages and interest?

Right so let’s say we agree.

    What’s next?

    No mortgages.

Grand, so who pays for the houses if the banks and landlords don’t?

    The government?

Grand where does the money come from for the government to pay for everyone’s house?????

I’ll await your answer but don’t expect much...

Most wealthy people were productive with their lives, this creates wealth which helps the country overall, the likes of Mrs cash exist to suck off wealth creators, her and her vile thirty thousand plus clan.

Right wing boot lickers hate seeing people acting collectively for government action of social or economic issues.

Charging extortionate rents on thousands of homes and buying up all the property at the expense of the ordinary person is a "productive" wealthy economic activity which helps no-one but themselves . Nothing to do with Ms Cash, you need to direct you ire up the ladder rather than down the ladder.
