How did I know that he would be preaching in a tent. A good old fashion Tent revival.

    Well, not many.

This is the church of which Locke is pastor. It's not exactly a megachurch. It's in Mount Juliet, TN, and there are good reasons why you've never heard of Mt Juliet, TN.

Creationism as it actually happened. Little piece of brilliance here for those who couldn't be bothered wading through Genesis

Meh. More amusing without the typo. Plus, already done in the wonderful movie "Dogma" with "Hosties" cereal:

NB: a screengrab off a DVD but as I recall the box kind of looked like this in the movie. Apparently there was an animated commercial too, I don't recall it from the film though.

Also, sigh, marshmellow(pun perhaps) and unlevened (typo)

When I go to edit it the picture is fine but when I submit the post it goes back to tiny again! 🙄 Anyway you can click on it to see it full size.

Ooops, turns out a Spanish bishop enjoys a little bit more than he was letting on.

"When Spanish bishop Xavier Novell resigned last month, the Roman Catholic Church cited strictly personal reasons without going into detail. It has now emerged in Spanish media that he fell in love with [...] divorcee Silvia Caballol, a psychologist and erotic novelist. [...] Caballol's books include titles such as The Hell of Gabriel's Lust and the trilogy Amnesia. In the blurb for one of her works, the reader is promised a journey into sadism, madness and lust and a struggle between good and evil, God and Satan with a plot to shake one's values and religious beliefs."

    Morto for the guy.

Does it make it better or worse that she's divorced? (insert "that would be an ecumenical matter" meme)

But methinks this guy was protesting too much in relation to sexual mores... from that BBC article:

He has backed so-called conversion therapy for gay people and carried out exorcisms.

Xavier Novell was traditional in his remarks on abortion but his strident views on homosexuality and outspoken support for Catalonian independence were controversial.

    Also:

A spokesperson told The Irish Times that Mr Novell had resigned only from his role as bishop and not from the Catholic Church.

If that spokesperson would let us know how one can actually "resign" from the catholic church, That'd Be Great.

However, his complicated backstory has fuelled conjecture that the relationship with Ms Caballol was not the reason for his departure. While some have speculated that he was under pressure from the church leadership because of his political views, Lucía Caram, a nun based in Manresa, said that he does “not have good mental health or emotional balance”.

She told Spanish television and other media that Padre Novell’s extreme conservative views, which included ejecting young women wearing miniskirts from his church, reflected increasingly erratic behaviour, describing him as “out of his mind”.

    "Blasphemous Lesbian Movie"!

Dutch director, Paul Verhoeven, has released Benedetta in the US, a film about a 17th century novice nun who joins an Italian convent and has a love affair with another nun. Some catholics got wind of the premiere and showed up with placards, posters and bullhorns. Christian Blauvelt, editor of IndieWire, said "They are upset about its ‘blasphemous’ portrayal of nuns and Catholicism. They’re repeatedly saying Hail Marys into megaphones". Hardly needs to be added that none of the religious there seemed to have been wearing masks or socially distancing themselves.

I suggest that we all go see this movie, in the interests of research of course, as it would be unfair to the director to discuss his work unseen. 😁

As it is from the same director as Showgirls you can be assured it is a serious treatise on the subject and there will be no gratuitous nudity. All nudity will be absolutely essential to the work.

    Oh FFS.

Are people still getting their wimples in a twist about lesbian nuns?

Where the hell did they think lesbians who lacked independent wealth and pliable male relatives went?

It's a bit sexist though, when was the last film with some hot priest-on-priest action...?

Not exactly new to film either, Almadovar's 'Bad Habits' comes to mind. Gay nuns on hallucinogenics, what's not to like ;)

I would put money on any sex scenes being laughable. I have literally only ever seen 1 film where the 'Lesbian' sex scenes weren't straight (badum tish) up male fantasy.

In fact that particular film is often featured in LGBTQ+ pub quizzes as the "what Lesbian sex scene isn't utterly ridiculous but we do wish she had cut her nails because ouch" question.
