We discussed this many moons ago and at that stage I voted for 'Last of the Summer Whine'. On mature reflection, it's not as good as 'Rock On'!

About the vaccinations, some of my friends got theirs from their GP but most had to go to Citywest as wot I done! My family members had already registered before me and have also made follow up phone calls. Can't understand why they're waiting so long when the rest of us were done weeks ago. They'll just have to wait I suppose.

So the two wouldn't get conflustered I s'pose! A mod would know more than me though. I have to leave now as I'm working on something. I hope we can get more folk in here as it's been very quiet.

Pay attention at the back there!

I - wait for it - got my hair cut today!! Then went for a long natter, mask-less, in a friend's kitchen. Both of us fully vaccinated and over the waiting period. Its almost like normal!

I registered on the HSE website thingy. Don't know if I'll be going to my own doctor or some vaccination centre. Darlink went to our own doctor but he's medically vulnerable or something.

Getting old seems to be like steps of stairs. Every now and again something happens to demonstrate that you are less able, then that continues for a bit till the next step comes along. I have an idea that I am currently feeling about 10 years older than my age, due to medical stuff and not helped by covid restrictions.

I am finally having to accept that my ambition to build a block wall in the garden is not matched by my physical ability. My head still knows how to do it, but the blocks are much heavier these days than they used to be.

You're right about those blocks Looksee. I find the soil in my garden has turned to concrete, I can't dig like I used to! :(

Well the childer have talked me into gettin' one o'dem Revolut cards. Holy moley, what has the worrild come to! So I downloads de app, see, and I starts fillin' in all me essential information like........and den it froze, it froze I tells ya! So me youngest child got on her magic phone and 'chats' to Revolut about me problem. Even me child didn't know wot dey wur talkin' about. So I deleted dat app yoke straight away. Now I'm after gettin' an email from Revolut and I've just read 35 pages of tees and cees, and I'm still none de wiser. Aw let's just go back to pounds, shillins and pence, please. It'll save me a lot of worry and frettin'. I'm fair fed up with it all so I yam. :(

    Ok, so I googled it.
Buy crypto, gold and manage your money with spending analytics

Almost the first sentence on the site. I don't feel any need to buy crypto (wut?), I am not likely to buy gold, and after some 7 decades of handling money I don't need analytics to tell me when I am overspending.

So, no thanks. I'm good. On-line banking I admit to being a convert to, but whatever revolut is, I can manage without.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 994 ✭✭✭Jellybaby_1

Well seemingly you can transfer money onto the Revolut card, then you can just pay for your shopping or anything you buy and there are no annual charges or fees. The kids don't use it for anything else. We wouldn't do that crypto thing at all. We get charged fees on our credit cards and I hoped by getting the Revolut we could avoid the fees. Also the kids, when they are away, can use the Revolut and are not charged for currency exchange. Sounded good to me.

But I don't have bank fees anyway, golden years.

I have a Monzo card which is very similar but needs a UK address. I find it handy for travelling and buying small items like a coffee. I also am happier using it for online stuff. It instantly registers a sale on your phone (app), an audible sound of coins falling :) and you see your balance etc. I only put a certain amount of money onto it so if it is lost, stolen or hacked, the loss is limited. It has come to my rescue several times when I found I had mislaid the main credit card. No problem using it in Euroland. It has other fancy features that I dont use. I can also send money to my daughter in UK who has same card.

The charges I was referring to were from the credit card companies, not the bank charges. Revolut don't charge fees.

That sounds the same as Revolut.

Yes it is the same as Revolut but needs a UK address to set up.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 591 ✭✭✭Garlinge

Woo Hoo found my way back into Ould Wans.... but will I manage it next time? not a happy bunny with new set up... but early days and maybe things will be sorted.

I like the visuals of the new system but I am a bit worried about using the look button. The new like buttons seems to be a link to facebook, but maybe its just my paranoia - I will try to like you post Garlinge and we will see what happens!
