    Eshan,

Just to clarify in cliff note kind of way - are you saying that you got disconnected from the server and that its PPP fault?

Far too many threads here from folks before they go through any kind of due process. You have to contact the site, explain your problem and then come onto boards if they laugh in your face. Even pm BCB.

I am not involved with PPP but I would be pretty certain that disconnection issues are a network issue. It's how they deal with your loss that counts not what caused it.

    Eshan,

I've got disconnected before on iPoker (I am not a regular on PPP) and to be fair other sites too while my broadband connection has still been up, like Gholi I've managed to play away on a different site while the connection drops on one. It's been costly in the past to me also :(, also it doesn't seem to happen so much these days thankfully,

Also it's kinda hard to know who to blame, the flakey Playtech sofware, the game server or just the idiosyncracies of the internet.

Sick when it happens at such an important time, very ul gholi :(

You do not connect to PPP servers when you connect to any skin throughout the network you connect to the game servers which are network servers.
However should you experience an issue acesseing the cashier PPP may be experiencing issues as that call leads to our payment gateway backend. Even this however does not rule out network issues as the call you make to access the cashier is from the client to PPP so the issue could be at either end. The call is not going due to network config issues or the call is not being received due to PPP API response issues.

Generally speaking you could catagorise game server disconnects in four ways.

There is an Issue with the Ipoker network game servers
There is an Issue with your connectivity to the internet
There is an intermittent issue or intermittant config issue with the Ipoker network game servers
There is an Issue with an internet provider bridging your connection enroute to the Ipoker network game servers.

If there is an issue on Ipokers side, no one person will be affected. If you are experiencing an issue and find that others are not, this is a good indication there is an issue at your end.

This can happen and still be due to internet connectivity. If you lose bandwith and are running more than one program, either can take preference using up that bandwith.

There is nothing "Flaky" about the Ipoker software LL and that is rather a sweeping statement.

Well there is something wrong with ipoker software that causes me to disconnect from it more, alot more then Stars, Tilt or even Party when I played there and that's not a sweeping statement that's fact on my part.

    .

I accept this is possible, but I would have thought that modern broadband should be able to cope with several programs going over the internet, especially as dial-up will work with most poker sites.

I beg to differ...the flakiness is well documented here. If you want I can find the threads and link to them here. The software has improved though i'll give it that. Also that statement was not meant as a dig at either PPP, GJP (both of whom i have found superb customer service wise) or any other iPoker skin as you guys are not the software creators or programmers.

    PPP-pitboss,
while i have decided to remove my original post from this thread (becuase i should have contacted PPP first ) i do believe there is an issue with Ipoker gaming servers that casues players to regularly disconnect from it.

while i understand that this MAY not be PPP fault,it is still IPOKER fault.

you can't just blame the internet for this and say oh well it's a wide network and the fault could be any where.

there fact is that there are other poker sites there that do not have this DC issue (or not as often anyway).

as i said im a network engineer my self and i do understand how routing works through the internet but i refuse to believe that ipoker is not at fault here.

I recently moved from Stars to iPoker for cash play and I've had more disconnects in 3 weeks on ipoker than the previous 4 months on Stars....

Maybe it's an Irish issue or something. Whilst living in England I played on GJP for 1-2 months without any problems and same for VC. Now back in Ireland I've bonus whored on Titan, GJP, PPP, VC etc and disconnect daily.

it does not make sense for this to be an Irish issue.

the Irish Internet backbone infrastructure is actually not bad at all.

I've experienced intermitant disconnection on all iPoker skins I have played on. If you are on a wireless connection (be it through wireless providers or even a wireless router), be aware that dropped packets = dropped connections.

You can still surf away on the internet whilst dropping packets, but for programs that are constantly sending and receiving data, it can cause them to bottleneck and die. I think part of this has to do with how iPoker recovers from this. I've noticed that it just disconnects you whilst other poker platforms such as Stars freeze and then recover by themselves.

I think you might very well have hit the nail on the head. I got a backup 3G connection, when I was testing this before by deliberately disconnecting my normal broadband it was detected after a few seconds by some of the other networks/sites and I was able to get back into the hand in time. On IPoker I had to restart the application and even then had to wait a while as it said user 'luckylucky' already logged in on the first couple of attempts to log back in.

I kept getting d/c'd every 10 mins or so from Paddy Power when using 3's wireless "broadband" but was always able to log back on immediately and didn't lose any hands because of it.

any chance ipoker could change their software so that the tables remain open when u get disconnected, it's the only site i've played on that closes all the tables, really really annoying.
