THEIF 3 problems

    hey

    im having a strange problem with a pc game i bought recently called 'thief deadly shadows'.

    i installed the game on my system and everything was fine. restarted after installation n that. so i started the game and before the game loads to the main menu, it instantly starts the game intro-movie.

    so i waited for the movie to end. and then instantly it flashed a milisecond of the main menu, and restarted the movie. it does this each time the movie ends. when i hit escape the movie restarts. i even tried to hold escape down and try click on the 'new game' button whilst the movie is dying to restart. (constant flashing) to only get an annoying freeze and crash

    so to see if there was a problem with the cd or some installation error i reinstalled it. restarted, same problem.

    i installed the game on my laptop and its working fine, not a bother, movie doesnt try restart. sept its just too slow on this laptop.

    i bought a new graphics card for the games i bought to keep myself occupied too its an nvidia 9800GT and cost 130euro. its a very good card and has fantastic quality.

    im outta clues to what to do now, and am wandering if anyone knows??

    sounds like a pain!!

    I wonder if it isn't a failure in the rendering of the cut scene that might be the problem, have a quick gander at the running processes during the cut scene to see if it shown in a standalone video player if so, try killing that and see if it doesn't just drop you into the menu.

    Make sure you patch the game upto the latest.

    NODIN sorry im running it on windows xp pro and i have xp pro too on my laptop.

    im trying to run the game on 4gb of ram and an 800mhz amd athlon 64x2 DCP. 5600+

    MANTIES im not too sure what you mean by patching the game up, do you mean looking around the internet to find a fix?

    SEA there was no videoplayer running for the game, i killed a few processes that remotley suspicisously could have been a player but with no such look. the video is still playing.

    any other ideas :(

    nothing to do with gpu

    thief engine sporadically hates dual cores. fix in the link above.

    Except that Thief 3 won't run on GPU's with too low a shader.

    thanks for the help! this worked. i just gota stop 1 cpu whenever i load the game...thank you! altho its strange my laptop is dualcore too...:confused:
