this would be madness and giving limerick a bad name. the city is nowhere near as bad as people make out znd in gereral, theres alot more trouble in dublin than limerick. the "troubles" in limerick are a bunch of about 6-9 families who dont like each other in 4/5 estates.

limerick would not be in the 1000 most dangerous cities in the world let alone on a shortlist for a tv program which would probably only contain many 15.

Just for completeness sake, this topic came up on the Limerick City forum recently: http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2055451383

Still light years away from the 50 murders and 1500 rapes a week in the Cape Town area. ( or is that the daily stats?)

Yes , but if it is going to be included in the programme then the research was obviously done to back up the claim.

A lot of people hear " Limerick " and think stab city.
I am not saying it's right , just that it happens.

To quote a Gard I know that's worked extensively in both Limerick and Tallaght, Limerick is "a ****ing pudding" compared to Tallaght. Limerick is nowhere near as dangerous as people say.

I think of all the uk cities last year, London had the most stabbings but a lot of stabbing in other cities dont make the news so statistics can be inaccurate .

No where in Ireland compares to some other places in the world. I just got back from Central America and the papers over there are wall to wall murders everyday. Well mostly San Salvador and Guatemala city.

In proportion to the population is it considered rougher than dublin?

Obviously they blew the Bravo budget flying to Cape Town and the likes. This was handier since they got cheap ryanair flights for 24c return to Limerick and figured "what the hell....".

Perhaps he should stay in the airport, I hear a lot of them have moved out to Shannon.

John Gilligan is an awful blowhole. He'll whine about these programmes yet he seems to feature in every single one of them, be it Prime Time,or whatever.

Pish! Limerick is a playground compared to some parts of Greater Buenos Aires. You should see the amount of kidnaps, robbery and murder in those areas. It's got completely out of hand.

Limerick just needs some serious marine erosion to clean it up.

I think the defense of Limerick is getting out of control. I definitely found it pretty rough when I was living there. People are just defending it because it's a popular fact, so it obviously isn't true.

I was in Guatemala city a few years ago, the doorman of the pub I went into had a sub-machine gun, one day An Ice cream van tipped over after getting it wrong going round a corner, there was a near riot as about a hundred bystanders looted it! It was stripped in less than five minutes.
